Romain Checks Out the Prince August Tool Kit

Romain has a look at the modelling tool kit from Prince August. These are a bit harder to get hold of, but if you can find one, they're worth the effort.

seems like a simple kit for cleaning mini’s more than anything.
Well, that’s the idea…

I should mention that I watched this on my lunch break on a work computer with no sound, so I guessed what you where saying was its a cleaning kit. Also I imagined you sounded like Mr.T…. it did make you seem macho in an odd way. Sorry Romain for my confession, I’m so ashamed.
I pity the fool that watches me with no sound…
Hello Bow
I’ m a painter from Greece and i watched all your videos. The colour theory videos was very helpful.
I want to ask you if you are going to paint, in the near future, anything from the new GW Vampire Counts range. Especially any character.
I’m interesting to learn how we can paint the flesh of a vampire because it’s not as ordinary flesh. After all they are cold as dead….
Looks just the ticket for preparing stuff you’ve cast yourself that may have large tabs on, EG the chess set moulds prince august do, as well as things with flash in really hard to reach areas,(under arms, between legs etc) which certain resin casts(not just GWs finecast, though they are certainly guilty) seem to acquire when a mould is used, or for clearing and levelling large half cast pieces like hirst arts tiles or when you have a resin tank etc made of upper and lower hulls that glue together at the open sides.
‘wink wink’ – 😀 Darrell are you watching this???? I think you mean the most coarse to the most fine in terms of abrasive quality?.. just a language thing. So you prefer the flat files to the smaller narrow metal files with different shapes? I haven’t worked much with resin but I find that for most of my flash / mold line removal that I get good / acceptable results with hobby knife work – gently scraping the knife edge along the line / edge. I have files, but I use them only sparingly. I think this is due primary… Read more »
No, I meant the most “fine”, as in “with the finer grain”… So, the less coarse, actually.
A hobby knife is perfectly fine… This kit is very useful, however, for the small, ard to reach mold lines and imperfections one has to polish away.
Sure, it’s impractical when you’re army painting… But there you go.

I’ve picked up most of these bit individually, over time. Nice to see a kit though.
A pity that the package does not include any filler
Perhaps review products easier to find? It’s a good looking kit however.
It’s easy to find… It’s just not found everywhere : It’s sold on the Prince August website and shipped internationally, and also sold in some modeling shops (mainly in France, but also in the UK I believe). I found this one in a shop in my home city.
We do review the things everyone can find, but our main purpose is to review the cool stuff…
It’s a shame all cool stuff isn’t always readily available near you, or near everyone, but there you go…

Can we get a link or some directions to find it on their website? I’ve been looking around for it just to check the price and can’t seem to find the kit. :/ It’s not on Acessories->Tools for instance.
It’s sold on teh french version of the site…
http://www.prince-august.net
It’s in the “pinceaux et accessoires” section, and it has its own tag, “ponçage et polissage de précision”.
I’m terribly sorry it’s not in english !
BoW Romain
Ah I see now. I was just a bit confused because the link under the video goes to princeaugust.ie
In case anyone is interested you can look for this in the stores they list in their website, just go to
http://www.prince-august.net/pointsdevente.php and click “rechercher”
Then look for “Micro Abrasifs” in any of those sites and you should find some.
Here’s the top result, for instance: http://www.miniatures2000.com/index.php?id=9&idproduit=8539
great review. I already have a p3 file set, so i might just try to find that rubber piece. Any idea what that is specifically called so i can look at my local art store?
They call it a “cleaning disk”… I don’t know what th real name is, sorry.
It’s a rubbery substance, but it’s quite hard.
It’s suited for those abrasive surfaces, but not for metal files (for those, you should wash them, or get a special wire brush).
BoW Romain
That cleaning disk looks like a good idea.. could use it for my needle files which are filling with bits of metal and plastic..
