The soil scatter here looks a lot more like loam / soil. The scatter in the autumn kit looked like wood shredder material. I like this a lot better. And the forest scatter is also superior to the autumn scatter – more variety of shape to the mix. Woodbark for rocks? Going to have to demo that one. Those shapes are too flat? @ubiquanon, you are just exquisite ! Your comments are always detailed, and you always expect the best… It’s motivating ! I’ve been wanting to mix the autumn and woodland sets as soon as I set eyes on them… I’ll give a demonstration of how to use bark for rocks one of these days, as well as how to do a bigger base with protruding rocks. I guess you don’t get static grass in the woodland set because tall grass rarely grows under trees, unlike ferns… But you get some in the Autumn set ! As for slates, I really don’t… Read more »

You can order individual pots and if you buy 9 you get one random pot free, so it almost works out the same cost as the kit (the kit is still a little better value since its fixed).

Thanks kaine – one more question. Is the slate easy to break up? The sizes included are about as big as a base, so I would probably want to break the rocks into smaller sizes for more variety.

Not really, the slate we include is fairly solid, we do try and include a good mix of pieces, we have various other “rock” elements available on the site if you need something smaller.

This was the kit that I bought for basing my KoW Elves. Its very nice stuff and I got two small bags of materials from the Autumn kit i think as samplers which was nice of them. Good job.

Thanks for the video review! It pretty much sold me and I just picked up this kit. I can’t wait to use it. I originally had to buy a bunch of separate things to achieve a autumn basing myself. Definitely going to be planning on using this kit for my next army!

I am trying to do a toxic swamp theme in the basing for my Cryx force in Warmachine, do you think i could do something with this to make the desired affect?
