The West Germans Are Coming To Team Yankee
May 20, 2016 by stvitusdancern
As you may have seen on the forums, Battlefront Miniatures has released a preview of their upcoming West German forces for Team Yankee.
Up to this point you have only had either the Soviet Union or the United States to chose from. So for you fans of the modern (circa 1980s) armour and warfare you will now have access to some pretty nice 15mm miniatures.
So far we have seen pictures and information for the Leopard II MBT, Marder IFV, and the Bo-105P Helicopter.
There will also be a 48 page supplement for the West German forces and focusing on Panzer Division One. and Kampfgruppe Müller.
If you look at the division to brigade to company TOE you will see Tornados being used as their close ground support fast movers. There is also pictures of Flakpanzers and Jaguar light armour.
While I love my Americans and they will always be my first love, I really do like these miniatures as well and will be adding them to my collections as they come out.
Having seen a Leopard II in person I am awed at the beast's presence and makes a nice partner to my M1s pushing back the communist tide. These are set to start being released this July.
Are you as excited about this release as I?

Achtung Panzer!
Achtung Flakpanzer! Gepards could appear in a Star Wars film and not look out of place.
Like I said on @davebpg ‘s thread … FINALLY! 😀 For the Team Yankee Bootcamp, I wanted to have painted T-72s, so I had pretty much a full force … THEN got to the Bootcamp and received ANOTHER full set of T-72s, plus the six Hinds. So now I’ve got this enormous Soviet force with nothing to put them up against. Yes, I could always have bought Americans but … nah. Been there, done that, in “1:1 scale” if you know what I mean. I’ve been waiting patiently for these West Germans … finally here they come! Bank Account and… Read more »
I’m 99.9% confident those are plastics @oriskany looking at them. I was mildly interested in the US and Russian kits for Team Yankee thus far (not so much the book), but strangely the German kits have really struck a chord with me, even more so than any anticipation of Challengers or the British in the future. Absolutely loving those Leopard 2 and the tank-busting 105s.
And yes…. Tornado’s!! That might have just tipped me over 🙂
Confirmed @oriskany states on BF site all three kits are plastic.
Agreed – Luftwaffe Tornadoes and the Leopard definitely swung it for me ! 🙂
Amazing how big the modern tanks look compared to their WW2 counterparts, quite a difference !
Having logged many hours playing computer games about WWIII in Europe, I always have had a special place in my gaming heart for the German forces in NATO. I love the Leopard 2 tank models and will be getting a set to add to my collection. Nice job BattleFront!
woohoo!!!
Not one for the modern vernacular/ kids speak but I think I now understand the term
OMG!!!!! 🙂
Now I’m stuck, do I hang out for the Brits, or as @oriskany put it” I’ve already done that 1:1 scale” always loved everything bundeswehr and the colour scheme on the vehicles is the dogs!
Luchs, leopards, marders and Tornados. Fine choice BF
Please though, don’t be lazy and give the Brits Tornados as well, can we have the good old Harrier for our close air support.
don’t forget the jaguar? @brucelea
A rough landings not a problem if the runway is destroyed.

Kampfgruppe Muller looks like an instant buy 😎
The Leo gets better every time I look at it..can’t wait to throw -yet again- some money at BF!
very nice.
Good stuff. Are the Brits expected at some point?
I’m not a FoW or Team Yankee player (have just about managed to resist), but these do look super-nice…
What would the British get, if Battlefront do them? Chieftans or Challengers? A Tamiya 1/35 scale Chieftan was the first kit I ever got and made, so it has a special place in my heart…
Very nice. If you get some Muv-Luv model kits and some nasty looking monsters and you could use these in Muv-Luv scenario.
I must admit that well I do really like the game so far, I was disappointed that only the latest available MBTs where made available to the players. As it stands I feel the game’s battles can feel a bit “samey” really quickly as the lists do not have much in the way of diversity of choices. The option of playing units of US M60A3s or Soviet T-62s may have helped to alleviate this to a small extent. I understand why they may have not made these tanks available as they only could put so meany resources into the foundations… Read more »
I’ve been waiting for this. I’ve always played Germans didn’t seem right to start playing until they came out.
Semms that there is a Leopard 1 and other Bundeswehr-stuff in the pipeline for this years’ releases.
I don’t know if the following picture is authentic, but to me it looks like an official piece.
