Painted Previews For Hobday & Hick’s Barons’ War Kickstarter
September 3, 2019 by brennon
Hobday & Hicks (can't get over how much that sounds like a cop show) have been showing off some painted previews of the models you'll be getting as part of their Barons' War Kickstarter which begins on September 15th.
Most of the sculpts are already finished for the campaign and the funding from the Kickstarter will help get the production sorted through Footsore Miniatures & Games. The idea is to get lots of miniatures finished to cover the First Barons' War although they would work equally as well for the second if you so desired.
Beyond that, any additional profits made from the Kickstarter are going to be reinvested into the line-up to help design a set of rules which can be used alongside these warriors. There are plenty of games out there but it would be neat to see if Hobday could work on a bespoke one to fit the range.
There is no word on when the models will be available post-Kickstarter just yet but it won't be in 2019. So, if you're interested in picking up these Medieval warriors who are ready for a bit of a scrap then you will want to get on and back the Kickstarter when it launches.
With that in mind I am loving the miniatures we're seeing here and the painting is top-notch too. A bit of Medieval skullduggery sounds like it could be a nice change from Dark Age and Ancient gaming.
What do you make of these painted previews?

Bring me a shrubbery! Ni! Ni!
I think these minis would look best in a static line or on dioramas.
great knights for games.
I love these minis !
Cant wait for more.
These are amazing and a little different from your average run of the mill medievals. They are beautiful sculpted, full of character and will look great on any historical or fantasy army. Bretonnians anyone?
I’m backing them specifically for fantasy RPGs. There is loads of Dark Age style stuff in non-heroic 28mm scale but precious little for early medieval. These are exactly what I am looking for so will likely be backing this for a decent sized selection of characters. I am currently playing Symbaroum which has a strong medieval theme to it and trying to find decent miniatures with a decent selection of weapons has been a struggle. There’s a real propensity towards swords. These characters have a really nice variety of armour styles and weapons. And scale wise they will likely match… Read more »
It’s a pity you can’t get all the old Arthurian figures from Thunderbolt mountain anymore
Yeah some of those were pretty special. Not too sure of the scale though, they do look a little heroic. But still, some of their women such as Guinevere, were awesome.
I was thinking just the same thing!
Will be getting a few packs when it launches. Footsore have also launched a podcast (quality is iffy at times), but there is a bit more about the KSer and why it is being released by Hobday and Hicks, rather than Footsore itself – might be of interest to some http://footsorevox.libsyn.com/
Really nice sculpting on these minis.
Metal? They look metal to me.
Those look really nice.
Very shiny. I hope I can back this!
I haven’t got on a Kickstarter for years, but this is more what I’m after. And if Footsore are involved I’m really interested to see where goes……
These are rather nice! Paul Hicks is a great sculptor.
