Footsore Begin The Norman Invasion With Odo & Armoured Infantry
May 7, 2018 by brennon
We've previewed some of these models already but Footsore Miniatures has now released a selection of new Normans onto their webstore for you to check out. The first of these is Bishop Odo Of Bayaeux.
This fellow was a council to William The Conqueror and you can actually spy him on the famous embroidery (not a tapestry remember!). He might not have actually taken part in the Battle Of Hastings himself but equipped with his club he could certainly smash aside some Anglo-Saxons and not feel guilty about it.

Backing him up, maybe even as a bodyguard, we have two different sets of Norman Armoured Infantry.
Wearing heavy chainmail and carrying their hefty shields these warriors would have been forming up around their leaders to protect them from encroaching enemies. Armed with those long spears they could keep the enemy at bay too.
It's nice to see that each of them are in subtly different poses meaning that when it comes to building the unit they're all going to feel like individuals as they go about their butcher's work.
I'm still not convinced that I want to delve into the Normans as an Anglo-Dane/Saxon player, but they are a very interesting invading force to consider, especially when you consider some of the fierce fighting between the Normans and remaining Anglo-Saxons after the death of Harold.
What do you think of the new releases?

Nice, hopefully we’ll see more Norman armies on the tabletop to bash up 🙂
Or early crusaders.
Those are very nice.
