Brigade Games’ Colonial Marines & Iconic Characters From 1812
May 29, 2023 by brennon
Brigade Games have released some new sets of 28m metal miniature for those looking to play out some battles in 1812 in North America and more specifically Canada. We'll start out with some iconic characters.
Lieutenant General Sir George Prevost // Brigade Games
The first of the miniatures is for Lieutenant General Sir George Prevost who was known as a military strategist and had a long and successful military career. He can then be dropped into your games alongside the likes of Major-General Sir Isaac Brock who was a renowned Canadian militiaman and an administrator from Upper Canada.

Paul Hicks has done a sterling job on these miniatures, as he does with all his sculpts, and has managed to capture the likenesses of these Historical figures exceptionally well. Put some extra effort into painting these fellows as they're going to be watching from the rear and directing the action.
A New Regiment Of Colonial Marines
In addition to the two miniatures above, there are also some Colonial Marines that you can use to throw into the heart of the fighting. There is a Command set for you to pick up...

...which comes with a few veterans leading the way alongside a couple of drummers and some riflemen that have been elevated to positions of authority perhaps. There are also two sets of miniatures representing Colonial Marines Marching and Firing.

There are plenty of cool sculpts for you to get stuck into here from Paul Hicks meaning that if you're looking to do something skirmish-based instead of mass battle, you could introduce some individual characters into the mix and play around with their names and backgrounds if you liked.
Famous US Faces!
As well as the British, there are also some iconic US characters available for you to snap up from Brigade Games to throw into your clashes of the period. We start with Major General Andrew Jackson who is rocking some seriously fine mutton chops.

You can then combine Andrew Jackson with Brigadier General Jacob Brown. Both of these miniatures have been designed to match the 1812 period and the actions that were taking place during that time over there in North America.

Again, Paul Hicks has done a great job on these different miniatures and you can clearly tell that he has done a lot of research in looking to bring these miniatures to life. If these miniatures have got you excited about the period, I would heartily recommend looking deeper into the Brigade Games collection for more awesome characters and troops.
Will you be delving into this collection?

Nice alternative to the usual Napoleonics
Great to see some characters from the 1812 campaigns
Very interesting. I had to look up the Colonial Marines. Apparently they were formed from freed slaves who had escaped from plantations in the United States and agreed to fight for the British. There is a Wikipedia entry on them here:
