Warlord’s Walmington-On-Sea Home Guard Ready to Face the Hun
January 29, 2014 by dracs
They are all finally here, Warlord Games have unveiled the rest of their new Dad's Army models and have put them all up for pre-order! Enter obligatory catch phrase here.
We have already seen a couple of the platoon, now the rest have geared up and are ready to get to the fight.
But it is not just the Home Guard that Warlord are bringing out. In the box set we also meet some of the every day citizens that Captain Mainwaring and his men are working tirelessly to protect.
In total that is 18 miniatures, all brilliantly depicting the characters of my favorite television show. Needless to say, I will probably have to pick these up at some point and I know I am not alone in that.
The box set also comes with a leaflet giving you a quick background on the show, as well as how you can use these models in a game of Bolt Action. Now we can play out what would happen if the Germans had invaded Britain and came up against the defenders of Walmington.
Are you planning to load these into Jones' van and take them to the tabletop?
With Hodges, the vicar and the verger this is better than I could’ve imagined. I’ll definitely be picking a box up.
They could expand this further with add-on blisters of some of the other characters – Captain Square, Pike’s Mum, maybe even Jonesy’s van and the sidecar motorcycle that featured in several episodes.
Not forgetting the old empty barn…
Next set has to have the Welsh War Correspondent as he was amazingly funny,
Or why not get an Allo Allo licence… now that would be wargaming lol
A humorous game of Dad’s Army vs Allo Allo does indeed sound quite fun. Gruber’s little tank (the Sdkfz.222) would perhaps be a bit hard to balance out against though. I’d love a Gruber miniature definitely, one of my favorite characters from the show.
Anyway, on the actual news topic, awesome little thing they’ve done here. I wouldn’t mind if there were more releases like this out there for other popular shows.
Blackadder, anyone? Especially the one set in WW1.
just as long as he has his underpants on his head with two pencils up his nose
That can be an alternate head 😛
I wonder if they’ll do M.A.S.H next!
Im defo going to buy some of these, might paint em up and give them to my dad or something.
Great models and loved the show and yes Allo Allo would be awsome.
