I think the general downfall of hobbies in the younger generations is the change in attitudes related to entertainment. My parents did not expect to be entertained constantly. They did not have walkmans, iPods or DVD players in their dashboards. Break rooms at large companies used to have tables, chairs and a kitchenette of some kind. Now they have microwaves and televisions. Woe be unto anybody who dares turn the TV off during break time too.
