Heroes of Normandie Prepares for the Final Push
April 19, 2013 by dracs
Heroes of Normandie has been a great success on kickstarter and as we approach its final week new stretch goals and goodies are becoming available for this tactical board game of World War heroics.
A whole bunch of cool new units joining both the Americans and British, ready to show Jerry who's boss.
A heroic platoon has also been unlocked, bringing the heroism and action of early war films which Heroes of Normandie is built upon. These are Miller's Rangers.
Character units like this do help to recreate that sense of movie heroism, as they stand out from the other units in your force in both rules and appearance.
A bunch of other tiles have also been unlocked, providing you with new places to fight over and different situations for your forces to struggle against. It's time to fight them on the beaches.
Finally, we have some good news for those of you who are fans of Achtung! Cthulhu, as a kickstarter exclusive will mean those of you who have supported Heroes of Normandie will be receiving zombies galore.
What are you standing around for soldier? This kickstarter needs you!
I’d love to get involved but the shipping to North America is a bit steep, even with the 5 quid off.
This game looks awesome and i’m on it, regarding the postage, it’s very reasonable considering how much the weight the parcel will be.
You think this is bad have a look at how much Europe are being charged for Sails of Glory, nearly as much as the game!!
@herrigold – postage is a big problem for KS. I’ve not pledged to many US based KS games because the shipping is 80% or more on top to the UK, so I know what you mean. Unfortunately it really does cost quite a bit to ship games about and there’s no easy answer.
You could always pledge a large amount on one project from the US. I did this with Wild West Exodus from Outlaw Miniatures. I was going to back a few projects at the time, but as you say, postage is a big problem. So if you are doing multiple projects, it only really benefits you to pledge on the ones that are going to be cheaper on KS with all the given extras, else you could end up paying more than RRP in the long run.
I think it benefits a company to have another office or a distribution network in the other continent. That way they can bulk ship or print their product in multiple places. I think Mongoose did this for Judge Dredd. I’m not saying it’s easy, but that’s something to look for in a Kickstarter, especially for something where all the pieces are cardboard like this one. Business smarts are important things to back on Kickstarter.
