A Good Time To Get Into FireForge Games’ Deus Vult?
January 24, 2014 by brennon
We don't usually talk about sales and price drops here but when I realised that FireForge Games were dropping their price for the Deus Vult Rulebook I was very surprised, in a good way!
I have been interested in Deus Vult for a while now, and with the price of a rulebook usually being the barrier toward entry with a game it's good to see that this is getting easier to explore as a game.
I do love many of the Deus Vult miniatures and with this lower price, is it worth me looking at this game for a bit of a Crusader fix? My other option is to wait for Crescent & Crosses which is the upcoming supplement for SAGA.
Have any of you played Deus Vult?

Here’s the thing about historical gaming: the same minis can be used with as few or as many rule sets as you want to buy – ok there may be some compromises on how they are based but that can be overcome if necessary. So I would say give the rules a try out, and if you are not so keen, there’s always ebay 🙂
Having more rules available means there is less chance of it feeling stale.
What the guy above said :). You can play Deus Vult and Saga:C&C with the same minis. I picked up a half price copy of Deus Vult in the recent North Star sale, I’ll be getting Saga when it’s released, and there’s a Perry Crusader army with my name on it sometime in the indeterminate future.
The price of a rulebook is almost never the barrier to entry into a new game for me. If anything the rulebook is usually the least costly part of any game. It’s the cost of an army that decides it for me (not the cost per mini; the cost of an actual playable army, which is why I quit GW ages ago, and why I’ve been slow to get into Flames of War). Deus Vult is something I’ve been eyeing since it was first announced. I may pick up the rules just to see if it’s time for me to… Read more »
I have not had any experience with Deus Vult and no issues either with paying for a good rule book although a bargain is always warmly received and good incentive to get me to part with my cash.
Totally agree with all the above, quite often the rule set is the only expenditure with historical gaming. Doesn’t stop wanting to buy more figures though, I too have plans for a Mongol army.
Hi all. This might be my first post?
I have the figures already as they look great. Sadly they are still in the box. Fortunately I have the funding to get them (ebaying hoards of 40K). However I have not tried the rules yet. But I’m sure someone said that variety is the spice of life?
Hi there
There is a real need for a Range of Muslim Warriors in Plastic for 28mm gaming. Otherwise, doing a Crusade Campaign is weak…
