Time for the epic conclusion of our Flames of War for the win series, but don't fret Warren and Dave are busy making plans for Season Two. If you have any idea's drop them in the comments below!
Just a little note as well chaps as we had a bit of a snafu with one of the cameras in this video so we had to switch up the audio for part of this vid!
Warren I’m pretty sure you need to be in uniform for the new season. Wouldn’t feel right if you didn’t.
Good Game Guys and congrats Dave FTW!!
Next season I personally would like to see more narrative campaigns like the ones you guys did with the bridge and the flying bombs. Fun stuff! Can’t wait untill you guys come back!
I loved that whole last battle. I hope to see some Vietnam in the next series.
Well done on the win, and a hard fought game. One thing wrong with this (as well as part 1 and 2) is that there is no close ups of the battlefield. We only have the 3 views, and they don’t clearly show the positioning and viewpoints of the models. Bring back Soldier Cam that you used on the D-Day landings video please. Perhaps for Series 2 you could have a switch around of armies, so Dave does an Axis force and Warren does an Allied force. Or choose the other’s army for them, aiming to have them build an… Read more »
I don’t know if it is to late to do this now but I think it would be awesome if you could do like a faction breakdown of the nations special rules and do a brief overview how their standard tank is. like Americans and talk about stabilisers or something on Shermans or how to overcome hen and chicks with the russians
oh yeah and pedmore idea is pretty great to
awesome series by the way
Roll on season 2 🙂
Excellent battle report fellas – and delighted to hear there are plans for more. If there’s Vietnam in the next series, I won’t be responsible for my wallet’s actions! 😉
Have to agree – whilst not a FoW player now, I was severely tempted during ‘Nam week, but due to other gaming requirements at the time that idea was safely put down…….. now however…..
Great game guys, congratulations on the victory Dave! Just a heads up about the rules for hit allocations: 1) no team may be allocated a second hit until all valid teams have been allocated a hit. (hits must be evenly allocated to valid target) 2) when allocating hits from mixed fire power ratings, each rating must be evenly allocated. So when Warren was allocating Dave’s hits against his artillery he would not have been able to allocate the two 3+ fire power hits to his staff team in order to get the better save. Also Dave since the artillery platoon… Read more »
Future battles? You have all of WW2 to choose from. To make things a little different, maybe the guys should switch to other nations – USA, Japan, Italy, USSR. Then there is the possibility of different arenas such as the Western Desert, Stalingrad, Arnhem, Anzio, where ever takes your fancy.
And the game types – what about commando raids? Airborne landings (something different like the German invasion of Crete). LRDG raids?
And a massed battle like Kursk – hordes of tanks thundering across the steppe.
And Warren has to put on a uniform too 🙂
Fantastic battle. Cant wait for more. A hard fight. Airpower is a total pain though.
How about making a mistakes video where you show events where you deviated from the rules. Might help with people learn the game.
I didn’t realise that bogged vehicles could fire in the shooting phase.
You are quite right bogged down vehicles are not allowed to shoot.
I wanted to check this also, but couldn’t find it in the rule book. Could you please post the page so I can mark it.
Thanks
page 44 of the small rule book.
Thought so. I think I need to watch this vid again.
I loved the series and can’t wait for season two.
I suggest picking armies that use rules that have not been covered yet. (City fighting as an example with infantry forces ((Stalingrad as an example))
I would love to see Fate of Nations played out so Dave can use more Sherman tanks. This would also allow us to see how the Flames of War rule set works with more modern combat.
Thanks guys keep up the great work!
Bring on series 2. If its going to Fate of Nations I wonder air power is improve. I think id go the israelis if it was. sending in low flying jets hitting arab tanks would be cool.
Roll on Season 2 guys. Have really enjoyed season 1.
Congrats @lafayette! One thing that could have sealed the deal a little earlier though mate; You forgot your British Bulldog re-roll for counter-attacking the StuGs!
I like seeing the games played out like this. It helps see the system, the feel of the game, etc. It’d be really nice to see some higher production into the videos. I get that it’s two guys and a camera (or two), but after watching stuff like Geek & Sundry’s TableTop, it leaves me wanting…
You did read the bit about us losing camera footage etc on this particular show?
Chapeau gentlemen, a very fine game of Flames of War, which I very much enjoyed to watch. It had everything. First on I was rooting for @lafayette, because Warren won (I think) every other match over the series, but when @warzan moved his last two Stugs in the city into to the back of the Sherman attack, that was just such a brilliant move. It took pressure from the own objectives, because one Sherman platoon had to pull back to defend, and it put pressure on Daves objective. It didn’t pay off in the end, but it was brilliant, nevertheless.… Read more »
You guys did a great job on these videos. I have absolutely been enjoying the entire series. I also would love to see more of the narrative type missions. (like the one with the bridge and the rockets.)
Great battle you guys!
I’d love to see some early war stuff for the next season. Possibly from the Rising Sun book. Japanese and/or Finns would be awesome to see.
Good job fellas! That was an excellent game illustrating the ebb and flow of battle.
I’m really looking forward to season 2 of FOW. Cheers!
Thnx guys, this series has been something I looked forward to each and every time. As for the next season there have been lots of good ideas posted above. It would be great to see other rules being used (i.e. engineers/obstacles, airborne landings, ambushes, etc.). Also would love to see other types of armies, in particular the Arab/Isreali conflict (lots of tanks). You could even play around with a short campaign or escalation league.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!!
I would love to know where you picked up that German flying saucer. Thanks!
that was made from a light fitting 😀 scratch building in FOW it certainly doesn’t happen a lot but there you have a great example of it.
Great series. I have been a FOW fan for a few years now, but have only accumulated and painted the minis until seeing FOW FTW. This series motivated me to actually play the game and the series has been a fantastic aid in learning the rules. I became a backstage member because of FOW FTW. Can’t wait for Season 2. As for season 2, I would like to see one episode that is a step by step walk through of some of the more complicated rules. Hit Allocation and Assaults. The outcome of both of these can have a major… Read more »
We’ll done chaps. I hope battlefront are giving you the figures for free, your doing wonders for the game. I became interested at version 3 and now have 5 armies lol. Keep up the good work guys.
Love the games but part 3 is a let down. I know you had trouble but poor sound and no close up views of the action leave the game hard going.
