Fix Bayonets As Warlord Preview Lance-Corporal Jones!
January 24, 2014 by dracs
Few characters of British television are as beloved as the one that Warlord Games have now previewed. He is none other than the Lance-Corporal of Warmington-On-Sea Home Guard, Jack Jones the Butcher.
As with all of Warlord's Dad's Army miniature Jones has been sculpted in both his uniform and his civilian butcher's apron, wielding either his trusty bayonet and rifle or the asagai spear he got when fighting in the Sudan.
Memorably played by, the sadly recently deceased, Clive Dunn, Lance-Corporal Jones' cries of "Don't Panic!" and "They don't like it up 'em" can now be heard being cried out over the battlefield.
I think that Warlord have done a particularly good job in capturing the appearance of Jones. I am really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the platoon fare and will definitely be picking them up when they are released.
How do you think Warlord did in sculpting old Jonesy?

Your name is also going on ze list!
Don’t panic – only joking 🙂
I like it. There are stories about Home Guard activity in Northern Ireland, including one local who was nicknamed ‘Shoot The Donkey’ after an incident in the middle of one night…
Loved Dad’s Army, so I’m really looking forward to this! I’ll be putting another order Warlord’s way before very long and Dad’s Army will be on it (or the next one).
I’ll be keeping an eye on this model line. 🙂
Great another round of Dads army quotes
I think these models could make for a really fun game with some good rules and some good mates.
Funny enough, Wargames Foundry already has a “Dad’s Army” line of WW2 miniatures in their Home Guard Heroes http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/our-ranges/ww2-second-world-war/british/england-invaded-collection-bcww2001/.
Although the sculpting quality might not be the same and they don’t have the characters in their civilian garb.
‘Although the sculpting quality might not be the same’
Meaning Warlord’s are probably better sculpts than Wargames Foundry, but anyway…
Private Pike has been added today:

And millions of people chorus ‘You stupid boy’ 🙂
Probably a good time to build Warmington on Sea table
I like the 1 of him in his butchers outfit more
Love Franks Tommy Gun with the round drum, early war here we come 😀
I’ve said before on a previous thread, corgi did nice 1/56 scale ‘Hodges’ greengrocer van and ‘Jonesey’s’ butchers truck, hopefully Warlord may do some resin vehicles to accompany the figures. A few early dad’s army in civvies with carving knives tied to broom handles would be good for a laugh too. Lots of fun possibilities.
