Cut Down Macedonians With New Warlord Thracians
October 26, 2013 by brennon
Macedon and Thrace were big enemies back in the classical period and so Warlord have fueled the fires of conflict by releasing some Thracians with Rhomphaia so you can own some Macedonian heads in Hail Caesar.
These warriors of Thrace are armed with the deadly weapons mentioned above. These cruel looking weapons were adept at cutting and stabbing with a duel purpose blade. Not something you want to be coming up against when you fight someone.
I quite like the look of Thracian troops but I have to say that instead of making it look like they are running the models appear as if they are falling over. It might just be the perspective here but I find it a bit weird!
Do you have a Thracian army in need of reinforcement?

oooh – nice, but would have preferred a conversion kit for the existing Celt plastics
hmmm… Thracian conversion parts + roman auxiliary cavalry = The 2nd Thracian Auxiliary Cavalry aka The Blood Crows from Simon Scarrow’s new book haha
With my interest in Saga turning into actual collecting (just bought the core book) I’ve been taking a look at ancient historicals. (Once the gun is introduced I lose interest, but everything before I like). It has opened up a giant, scary new world of model gaming for me. 🙂
I like the Warlord models a lot, but for the most part they don’t fit the period Saga takes place in. But I could see myself kit-bashing some of the Celtics with other plastic kits.
depends what you want to do, kitbashing Celts with Vikings/Saxons, even Roman Auxiliaries could make for some pretty cool and alternative early medieval Welsh/Irish/Bretons or Basques even…
Kitbashing Warlord Celts with Gripping Beasts Viking is very easy, and works quite nicely. I was a bit fussy and cut away all those Torcs though.
