Bring FireForge’s Teutonic Infantry On Your Next Crusade
January 18, 2013 by brennon
If you're looking for some heavy infantry to take on the enemies of the Holy Land then how about FireForge Games' new Teutonic Knights? These will be available from late February.
This set comes with enough pieces to make twenty four Teutonic Sergeants or split them down the middle and have twelve Dismounted Knights and twelve Crossbowmen.
As well as the weapon options there will be plenty of fantastic bits and pieces to customise your warriors as they trudge to the desert.
Will you be looking to pick these up?
I really loved the footmen…
Although dismounted knights are less “knightly” and less useful, they look very good, especially for the price !
Saw them on Facebook yesterday.
Thought they looked impressive. Fireforge are doing a good job imho
They look wrong, out of proportion. They’ve got heads like 50 lb. smarties. Also, there’s not a lot of detail on them. I’ll have to pass.
The helmets really are that big. There are quite a few left over from those days, and you can bet the designers had a close look at them.
Logical, though. Chainmail coif, padding, and then the helmet. Just look at how big a motorcycle helmet is these days. And those don’t have spread wings or antlers…
On the detail: yes, they look kind of sparse, almost like some weird halfbreed between Airfix and tabletop minis. Also am never a fan of attached bases, which only strengthens the Airfix look.
I would like to buy sprues of just the heads. I’ve got some Black Templars that would look pretty swanky rocking some great-helms. (I know they’d be impractical in the 41st millenium, but at least it’s not bald and screaming)
There is plenty in the 41st millennium that is impractical.
Wouldn’t worry about it 😉
I really liked their mounted knights but these, something is wrong, the got really big heads and the poses look wrong and not a whole lot of detail. Shame
So I’m not the only one that think the heads look big. Be it in real life, knights most likely did have big helmets to give some space from maces crushing them. Greater chance of survival.
Even considering that they would wear a mail coif or armet underneath, the helmets weren’t that big proportionally. Their mounted figures have a more correct head size, so why not these?
Can’t help wondering if there is some distortion due to camera angle.
I would like to see a tabletop PoV before casting judgement.
Also would Fireforge not use existing heads rather than resculpting new ones?
If that’s the case, I stand corrected and the bodies are too small 🙂
