Assembled Samurai from Wargames Factory
November 15, 2011 by brennon
We saw a lot of previews of these guys over the past couple of months, but here are images of the assembled plastic Samurai from Wargames Factory...
Pretty close to the digital counterparts but it would be nice to see some of these painted up in the future from Wargames to really get a feel for the models.
What do you think now you can finally see the plastics?
Am sure they will look fine and painted up on the table but again not getting a good feel for figures based on CAD
maybe it’s just me :/
I don’t think its just you, they look very static to me even the “charging” two look like they’re rooted to the spot because of the ramrod straight backs, I’m not a martial arts expert(closest I get is playing a drinking game every time I see Steven Seagal’s stunt double which is lethal if the film is anything after about 1995) but something says to me running at the enemy with your torso upright is a good way to make yourself an easy target.
I’d like to have some to look at closely before I make a final judgement. However, on the basis of these pictures alone I have to agree with the previous comments and add that I’d pay the bit extra and take metal Perry samurai.
Perry for me too I’m afraid, too stiff and wooden. With too shallow detail for my tastes.
I have a simple formula
1 Perry= 1000000 other
Well given that they’re plastic and you’ll most likely get more figs for your money than with Perry Miniatures’s samurai range, I’ll think they’re fine. In mass combat games they’re excelent unit fillers. Line the front ranks with Perry’s metal figs and the back ranks with these, the result is a nice looking unit.
As for the poses. The same “rigidness” is also apparent in Perry Miniatures’s own plastics when compared to their metal range.
