Wargames Illustrated Pick Out Key Moments In History
October 5, 2015 by brennon
Wargames Illustrated have started dusting off some of their miniatures to sell once again. The first of these enterprises to begin once more is their Moments In History range which includes a variety of different vignettes from different time periods showing off key points in time...
Moments In History
The Wargames Illustrated crew have quite a selection of different models for you to pick from but I've just grabbed a few of my favourites to show off below.
I've picked out some moments in history that I've been rather taken with but they also do some interesting moments from World War II and World War I too.
I particularly like this one below of both Achilles and Hector fighting outside of the gates of Troy. It was quite a neat fight in the movie but even better in the epic poem.
Last but not least we have the Battle of Little Big Horn where Custer has been stabbed by the spear of an angry Native American. Let's face it, he kind of deserved it...
There are loads more as I've mentioned above so go and see what you think of their range and pick out some of your favourites for us in the comments below.
Blackhawk Down
One of their modern day Moments In History is going to be the time, made famous by the film of the same name, where Master Sergeant Gary Ivan Gordon and Sergeant First Class Randall David ‘Randy’ Shughart went to defend the pilot in 'Blackhawk Down'.
It was quite an iconic moment and the anniversary of it was over the weekend. While marking an important moment in modern history it could also work as a fantastic objective marker in your games.
What do you think of this range?

Blackhawk Down scene, yup. The rest… um.. clunky.
And the Custer diorama: “If you can do the whole male swan thing in ‘Swan Lake,’ and cut off one of my buttons, I’ll drop my pistol.”
…they knew how to make a point back then!
Richard vs Saladin, Achilles vs Hector and Blackhawk Down once are my favorites from those.
I bought the Musashi figure they used to sell. Not sure you should describe the minis of Master Sergeant Gordon and (1st) Sergeant Shughart as being from ‘Blackhawk Down‘. What they did wasn’t a movie.
Those brave and selfless souls sacrificed themselves – for real! I don’t think that makes a ‘fantastic’ objective marker, however nice it looks.
All sculpted by Gary morley, wonder what he’s up to now?
