Pat Smith Helps Steven Lampon Set The Scene In The Mediterranean
September 5, 2019 by avernos
In January 2018 Steven Lampon and his friend Pat Smith decided to collaborate to self publish a book on what it took to create a magnificent table themed for winter wargaming. Since then it has sold out of three print runs. Flushed with this success they have returned to take on sunny climes.
Setting the Scene Volume II, will tackle putting together terrain and layouts for the Mediterranean battlefields. The Mediterranean is a vast area which covers portions of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Our main focus of the book will be on Southern Europe, namely Sicily, Italy and Spain, although the main terrain features in this book would be suitable for many of the other territories bordering those three countries.
Showing tips and tricks that novices and seasoned gamers will find useful, the book aims to help you build a layout suitable for everything from the wars of the early 20th century, to Wellington's Penninsula campaign, or warfare in the ancient world and really give you a tabletop to be proud to play across.
I've been blown away by the work Pat has done on this and the winter layout, the book is getting its final edit and proofing now with an expected publication date of October. But Steven is taking a list of interest in the book now on his blog here. Given that the first book is currently awaiting its fourth print run it is definitely one to get in on early if you fancy picking it up. Steven has also posted a gallery of 50 images there that failed to make the grade for the publication itself.
What period would you like to take to the Mediterranean for?

Love a book, or article for tutorials, as it is much easier to refer back to it than a video. The fact it includes chapters on painting minis and vehicles could be really useful on colour, weathering etc.
the pictures for both books are amazing, I’m on the list for both volumes.
fabulous looking book but I’ve got the terraintutors one on order.
I’ve got the winter book, it’s fantastic. Based on the photos this one looks really good too.
Awesome. For starters I’d go with Bolt Action or CoC but I think with some tweaking it would work as a Carribean setting with Blood and plunder
