The Forces Of The Gauls Finalised By Victrix For Ancient Warfare
January 16, 2017 by brennon
Victrix has now finalised the main infantry for the armies of Gaul that will be threatening the Roman Empire. See what you think of them...
There's looking to be a neat range of different bodies, heads, weapon options and accessories like those cloaks. I'm a big fan of cloaks/capes on models but they can sometimes be an utter pain when it comes to ranking up your army.
In terms of the rest of the Gallic army, you can look forward to Command figures, Helmeted Warriors, Armoured Warriors, Naked Fanatics and Cavalry.
We'll be keeping an eye on how the range develops!

I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on some of these along with the romans.
The sculpts and detailing look great. And don’t be too worried about the cloaks @Brennon, most games that use these benefit from multibasing or are full on skirmish, so ranking isn’t a major issue.
I love the severed head carrying Gaul that they’ve shown off as well.
whelp that didn’t work, but I’m sure google fu will turn it up for interested parties
I don’t think the Gauls worried too much about “ranking up”…
Cloaks etc are quite good for multi basing as it makes the base look like there’s more figures on it than there really are
These look great. I wonder what the parts break down into and how customisable they are.
Hmm…I do fancy making a Celtic warband, I wonder what other Celtic sets they will release.
I found this info on their FB page… “…the 3 figure command sprue comprising Chieften, Musician and Standard Bearer. The Chieften and Standard Bearer will be wearing chainmail and both figures will be interchangeable. Included on the command sprue will be many extra heads wearing helmets with various crests, wings, totems etc to decorate the helmets. We will also include spare daggers, javelins and other pieces of equipment that will enhance the figures. At present the completed set will comprise 7 sprues of 6 figures and 2 command sprues of 3 figures to give a total of 48 figures. To… Read more »
it looks like legs and torsos will be one piece, arms, heads and “extra bits” like shields and cloaks can be added.
They’ve confirmed a set in mail with a bit more armour, to represent nobles along with naked chaps for the beserking.
since they already make cavalry for others I would imagine we’ll definitely see them and perhaps chariots if you’re very lucky.
I’m going out on a limb that we will not get Asterix and Obelix though
😀 Aww…shucks
Hasslefree do a female version of them.
Total awesomeness!!!
But: I’m still waiting for the Romans being released. I’m getting desperate here..hopefully March then. Or April. Sigh..
I’m really looking forward to these. Even more so the gaestati, thanks for the info from FB @lostegg. I’ve got a major Hail Cesar Celt army on hold while I’m waiting for this range to come out. Really can’t wait but hopefully it won’t be too long. Salute maybe?
I’m not sure I could stomach painting an army but a small warned would be fun. The tartan alone would send me mad 😀
I’m looking forward to these to add in to a Carthaginian army I am working towards.
I’m currently building their Spanish horse and Numidian horse and foot and they are lovely figures.
