Fight For The Germanic Hordes In Warlord’s Hail Caesar
June 24, 2013 by brennon
Warlord Games have more mighty enemies for the Roman Empire to fight. This time Hail Caesar is seeing more Germanic Tribesmen pouring out of the Teutoberg Forest to give the Romans a fight to remember...
I imagine a fair few people take on the mantle of the Roman Empire in Hail Caesar but it always seemed like a fun idea to be on the other side of the war. This looks like an awesome set filled with plenty of character allowing you to make forty three models!
Some of the warriors are armed with prized war trophies, Roman weapons and armour taken from the dead. They might not have had the secrets to make it themselves but they could beat up a poor Legionnaire and steal his stuff.
It would be fun to see a re-enactment of the battle from the beginning of Gladiator actually. Even if the tribes lost there it would be interesting to see how a different general would fight the battle.
Are you one with the tribe?

When it came to the Teutoberg forest the Romans lost Three Legions plus Auxiliries to these chaps.
I am in love with the Roman history of warfare! The Teutoberg forest, the Cimbri, the invasion by Hannibal, I just can’t get enough of the gigantic battles of clashing steel and barbarian war cries! I’m glad BoW are finally covering this, and I hope to see more ancient historical wargaming coverage on the site.
Simon Scarrow’s first Macro and Cato book – the battle in the town.
Varrus was an idiot with ambitions but little military ability and was guided by someone who was instrumental in the ambush and had served with the Romans and so knew how they operated and was well aware of their vulnerabilities. Any army can get into very deep doo-doo when they are overextended.
