New Fantasy & Historical Soft Plastic Characters Arrive From Warhansa
February 23, 2017 by brennon
Warhansa doesn't just work in resin as they have also been dabbling with soft plastic too. Leading the way for a raft of new releases we have these 'toy soldiers' with the Warrior & Assassin.
The Warrior & Assasin might be quite familiar to you. While they are still soft plastic the amount of detail they've worked into the sculpts is actually very impressive. I really like the Warrior and the added detail for his fur and armour.
I would assume that they're aiming these towards either role-playing games or board game play. I'm sure you could find a use for them in a campaign or two as a Human Barbarian and Elf Rogue.
Gladiatorial Combat
Another set of soft plastic miniatures was also released centred around the Gladiators.
The use for these fellows is much more apparent. With a lick of paint, you can use them to drop into your games of Spartacus as alternative characters for your lanista of choice. It's always good to have some more models to spice up the bloody battles of the arena.
What do you think of their soft plastic range?

they are looking great folks.
How “soft” is soft plastic? We talking Reaper Bones material? or just not ‘technically’ a hard plastic even if it’s not really bendy?
My favorite material that I haven’t really seen take off is the PVC that the Wrath of Kings stuff by CMON was made of… the detail was great, the models were super affordable, and they went together so well… and yet I don’t feel like I am seeing more companies follow in that direction… weird? no?
… I spent a bit of time “tempering” my my soft plastics from Dungeon Saga and Privateer Press’s The Undercity. Not a great fan of soft plastic but with a bit of work and, as Ben said, a lick of paint they aren’t too bad. (as longs as it isn’t the diabolical rubbish Hasbro turned out for their D&D minis ….their was one I swore that I could have made and I have two left hands with opposable thumbs which develop minds of their own when ever sculpting arrises
My issue with soft plastic is that it the detail can often seem very clogged with mould lines and injection points. If they are done well they can be excellent, if done badly they are like Christmas Cracker toys. It’s not really helping that those pictured are coloured plastic and so it’s hard to see what the detail is like.
Still I would be interested to see what the prices are like because that would also play a part in whether I decide to buy them – cheap miniatures are fine for RPGs
Just looked. $12 for the Assassin and Warrior set is quite expensive.
