Knight Models’ Harry Potter Miniatures Adventure Game Coming To Kickstarter March 14th
February 14, 2018 by brennon
Knight Models have announced that their Harry Potter: Miniatures Adventure Game is coming to Kickstarter on March 14th, 2018 with a rather fancy looking base set!
The game is going to be for two-plus players and will have you playing as the iconic characters from J.K. Rowling's magical world, facing off against the forces of Voldemort and more.
"In this game, each player takes control of a group of witches and wizards from the Harry Potter cinematic saga, each represented by a finely detailed resin miniature, sculpted to exacting detail in collaboration with Warner Bros. Each 35mm miniature is produced in high-quality resin, making it ideal for collectors, painters and gamers alike.
During the game, players must outmanoeuvre their opponents across beautifully illustrated game boards representing many of the iconic locations from the Wizarding World, such as Hogwarts, the Chamber of Secrets, and the Forbidden Forest. Players must explore these environments, resolving Challenges and Quests in order to secure victory."
This, as well as the video above, are all we have on the game right now but it looks like a fantastically complete product with plenty of scope and some amazing models!
This seems like it was the best route to go down for a game based in the Potterverse. Having it tightly focused on narrative moments and adventures in a 'board' format works a little better than making it a freeform miniatures game.
Hopefully, we'll find out more about the game in the run-up to the Kickstarter!
What do you think from an initial glance at what's coming?

your absolutely killing me man. sold, sold and trice sold.
I’ve been trying to cut back Kickstarter projects backed, but between this and Hellboy, I am going to have problems. I hope they don’t plan to only offer a tin box for the game. Tin boxes don’t sit well on shelves and they damage easily.
apparently i lose the ability to use words when i get too excited.
it looks utterly amazing. the models are beautiful and the narrative driven game play is just perfect. so far it’s everything i hoped it would be.
HARRY POTTER.
Has Dawn raided her piggy bank in readiness for this ? Looks like there’s going to be an absolute ton of stuff for this.
Oh you know it!!! Expecto my money!!! 😀
This just in US Studio unable to travel to UKGE as Dawn has earmarked all available funds and wanted to sell Gianna’s kidney for this Kickstarter.
Lol HEY! I would never cancel a trip for kickstarter money! ;p
She’d just get Gianna a second job. 😉
Exactly! On it! 😉
No denial of organ sales though, nice ☺
Oh, ya caught that, did ya? lol
Ha ha – just sent the link to my potter-nutty daughter on facebook suggesting “shame I’ve just given up on Kickstarters”…
I agree about going for a board game rather than free-format tabletop. I can only imagine what some of the 2.5D scenery stretch goals I expect might look like!
Interesting that they say the miniatures are resin. I wonder if that’s the term they’re using for PVC. Resin casting, as the term is usually used in miniature gaming, is a long and laborious process.
It’s got to be the same stuff they came out with for Batman Miniatures Game last year, those colored resin figures, I’d imagine.
Harry potter stuff has a high collectors value in general, buy one to play with and another to stove away.
The models look amazing; I’d buy them just on their own happily enough.
But the picture shown of the board game looks rather complicated; I don’t know what kind of deal has been made with WB but I’d have thought a miniatures game would have worked.
My 5 year old loves Harry Potter but again looking at the picture, there’s no way we could play such a game; I’d have thought it would have been better to attach a simpler rule set. It’ll be interesting to see what the kickstarter is selling.
This, and Batman and needing to decide on what I finally pledge on Joan of Arc, something has to give. I’m not sure what. Tough decisions.
Not my thing but minis look good and makes sense in this format. If separate minis are available would be nice to grab for presents.
Already been told trying to encourage my neice to play this will be a on pain of death.
AFAIK, Metal HP miniatures are available for $25 MSRP, and their Batman resins currently cost $15 MSRP. Dunno if HP in resin will be available.
Dakkanauts have had some negative experience with KM, so do your usual diligence.

The minis still look great, as they have done since the previews started. Seeing the troll and the basilisk in the game is great, as is hearing it’ll be very narrative/scenario based – the idea of two groups of wizards just duking it out never really made sense to me (ok, it happens a couple of times in the books/films, but not often).
Being a board game rather than outright skirmish game means I may be more likely to persuade my wife to give it a shot….
Daaaaaaamn that’s impressive
Same game designer as Mantic’s The Walking Dead. Several pages of discussion already on the Dakka forums. These sculpts look absolutely fantastic, and I’m not even a fan of the franchise!
Incredible product! if it is somewhat similar to the Batman Squirmish System I really like a lot… and if it isn’t the minis are SO GREAT!!!! that i can’t wait to own them and paint them… good job knight models!! All I hope is communication runs smoothly and fine in the campaign, because perhaps this is their worst aspect: they keep silence for months and then suddenly change ideas and then suddenly again silence and then suddenly a product is discontinued, and then suddenly they begin silence and then they make an explosion of production and gives us a starter… Read more »
Dang! I’ve been watching this as they teased the minis every once and a while. Now the kickstarter is close at hand and I’ve been trying so hard not to get a bunch of kickstarters in the pipe, (so to speak).
Oh well, I’ll be up to three again now. I can’t pass this one up.
(confession, I’ll buy these regardless of what I think the game is like. We’ll use them around here for our RPG game! Finally proper minis)
