April 19, 2018 by brennon
Available now from War Banner, you can get your hands on Blood On The Aventine which serves as a Scenario Starter Box for your nefarious schemes in Gangs Of Rome.
The set comes with a whole bunch of miniatures for you to use in the game as well as terrain elements from Sarissa Precision as well.
Here's what you get inside the set...
- Gangs of Rome A4 Full Rulebook
- Blood on the Aventine Scenario
- 6 x Single piece fighters
- 6 x Named fighter cards
- 16 x Equipment/Skill Coins and cards featuring four unique coins for this scenario
- 1 Gaul watchman, Incola card and base
- 1 x Personal Influence Marker card
- 6 x Activation pebbles (3 x 2 different colours)
- 7 Roman numeral dice
- 2 x MDF Movement rulers
- 6 x Jigsaw Base
- 6 x Sets of flesh tokens
- 2 x sets of ID markers ( 1 - 3, two colours)
- MDF Temple under construction scenery by Sarissa Precision
- 1 x Objective token
I love the sound of this little scenario. With your two gangs setting out to ransack the place they have to deal with the Gaul left to guard the place by Senator Caius Norbanus Flaccus.
It should provide you with a great look at how the game plays out on the tabletop with a real focus towards narrative play.
Are you going to be picking up this set?

Very cool starter set, reasonable price and a great entry point. Sarrissa’s terrain bundles you can get to supplement this game are just the icing on the cake
Cracking starter set, I want it but too many other games. Plus I’d want a bit more scenary.
Test of honour, blood red skies, dead mans hand, bushido, burrows and badgers are all in that same trap for me at present.
Oh and mythos
I like the idea but minis are so bland and boring.
fantastic game and a superb starter set, really love the work by Steve and Paul on the minis beautiful pieces to paint up
If I didn’t have a load of Rome stuff already, I’d definitely want one
*coughs* I may be getting one anyway… in my defense, I love stuff
@avernos you dont have enough GoR anyway, lol. To tell the truth I have got this too and the game is amazing
Having slept on it I’m considering similar.
I picked this up at Salute. Superb deal. I also got a few mobs to expand the game to the next level.
Mobs are next on my list, couldn’t pass this up as it was a great deal.
Played it in the pub table that night and really enjoyed it, beer mats made a good replacement for mobs lol.
If you’ve not seen the chicken scenario you should let me know it’s a hilarious one to try
I’ve not seen that one @avernos where is it?
Adam Dobbin sent me it to play test, don’t think it’s hit the download page yet. PM me an email and I’ll send you the scenario, it’s cluckin’ magnificent
Thanks there @avernos
Thanks Gerry. Catch a chicken, how bad can it be ? 🙂
Don’t let the chicken kill you. You’ll never live it down 🙂
No worries I’ve been there before. My Wizards apprentice who was a bit of a combat monster was taken out by a rat in Frostgrave once.
Had a quick game of this at Salute on Saturday. Fantastic game . My only regret was not picking up a copy there and then (thankfully rectified now!). The starter is really good value and the scenery from Sarissa just looks fab!
Amazingly good value and a great way to start this wonderful game
I really need to get around to ordering this
yes you do
