New Warcry & Warhammer Underworlds Clashes Coming Soon
August 24, 2020 by brennon
Games Workshop has more news for fans of the Mortal Realms too. Kicking things off we have a new set coming for Warcry called Catacombs. This new set offers up two new warbands for you to collect plus terrain and all of the accessories you need to play games set in the Realm Of Chaos.

This new set is a good way to dive in with some alternative warbands for Warcry. You get to introduce the Khainite Shadowstalkers into the mix against the literally fiery Scions Of The Flame.
These new warbands also come with a fun new battleground to enjoy based on a Fantasy dungeon from the Realm Of Chaos known as the Catacombs. You now don't just have to worry about your opponents but the rivers of flame too.

I think this looks very cool indeed and offers up a different style of battlefield for your skirmish games. I like the idea of using this for more than just games of Warcry too as this could well be repurposed for use in things like Soulbound, the Age Of Sigmar roleplaying game. It would be a great place for a showdown with the likes of the Scions Of The Flame.
New Options For Warhammer Underworlds
As well as the new goodies for Warcry you'll also be able to do even more skirmishing with Warhammer Underworlds and their new set called Direchasm.
Direchasm // Warhammer Underworlds
This builds on the collection of cards and miniatures you have for this quick and easy skirmish game with two new warbands and plenty more. In this particular set, you have the Slaaneshi Hedonites of the Dread Pageant going up against Myari's Purifiers. Slaanesh and the Aelves have never had the greatest of relationships so it's no wonder that they are clashing once more in Warhammer Underworlds.
As well as the new options in that additional core box for Warhammer Underworlds, the Seraphon are also on the way. We got a little peek at a new Chameleon Skink who has their sights set on poisoning some poor individual. You can take a look at him HERE.
The crew at Games Workshop also announced that they are working on Arena Mortis for Warhammer Underworlds too.

In Arena Mortis, you don't take on the role of a full gang but instead one fighter going up against a bunch of other players. You can either play in a deadly one-on-one duel but also introduce five players for a big old brawl to see who can come out on top. These rules were first presented in White Dwarf but they are now going to be available to everyone in this new set which also comes with a new board, new tokens and new cards.
A New Narrative For Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar
Lastly, we're also getting a new set for Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar which will follow a new storyline for the Mortal Realms. Shadow & Pain follows the clash between the Daughters Of Khaine and the forces of Slaanesh in a bid for dominance across the different realms.
Shadow & Pain // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Inside this set, you'll get a bunch of awesome miniatures from the existing collection by Games Workshop plus two new miniatures which are leading the way. The first of these is the Lord Of Pain who comes bristling with cruel-looking armour and a mace which has claimed quite a few different souls.

This dude seems like he would be a lot of fun to paint. I like the mix of different styles here with the leather, metal and of course all of that pale skin. I bet you could do some fun stuff with tattoos across this fellows body to make him seem like a properly crazed killer.
As well as the Lord Of Pain you've also got the Melusai Ironscale for the Daughters Of Khaine. I really like the new aesthetic for these Dark Aelves and it helps set them apart from the other options right now who serve Allarielle and Teclis.
Melusai Ironscale // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
This collection is all bringing us towards the new narrative for the Mortal Realms called Broken Realms. This will see the different Aelven factions vying for control and challenging the Chaos Gods which means that everyone else is going to get swept up into their conflict too. This all starts with this book, Morathi.
Morathi // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
When it comes to new books, this is going to "shake the core of the Mortal Realms" which is what Games Workshop say whenever we get a new addition to their library. The proof will be in the pudding as they say and I do hope that we get something as monumental as the Necroquake.
Are you tempted by the new offerings by Games Workshop for Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar?

I like the fire / lava sided board they gone with. I could see me using it as an addition to other dungeon crawl games along with the scatter terrain.
I had same idea. RPG characters going to have interesting fight on that lava terrain.
I like khainites too. Great evil elves. Especially when combined with Shadow & Pain which also looks good. Been wanting excuse to buy daughters of khaine. And almost bought wrath and rapture for the slaanesh… but resisted.
I can see me buying both of those boxes.
I’m expecting £100 each for those sets from GW, so maybe £80 with the usual 20% off.
Pretty much a big yes to all of this. Really good showing for upcoming AoS stuff. The new narrative is really the star of the show for me here though. The Malign Portents lead up to Soul Wars was great, apparently this is going to be more heavily supported, similar to realm wars which was before I’d got into AoS, looking forward to jumping into the new narrative.
I am most interested from that AoS boxed set featuring Daughters of Khaine and Slaanesh as possible way to start either army and getting new miniature for both is also good.
Really like that Lord of Pain and the Snake Elves are really interesting… I’d be tempted to convert them into snake demons. Lots of nice stuff coming.
ooh … more Warcry
I love the idea of terrain that can be a threat to (both) players.
However I really want them to do an Ork-based variant too.
Call it OrCry or GorkaMorka or something …
’cause we all know them greenskins love to fight each other as much as the chaos dudes do.
Well, there are already rules for Orcs and Goblins in Warcry so you could start there 🙂 @limburger
I know … but it would be cool if we could get new Orkish gangs …
or at least new multi-pose Orks instead of the ancient models we’ve got now.
Skimmed quickly but wow that hand on Melusai Ironscale. Took me a good bit to realize it wasn’t a mistaken backwards assembly! unfortunate especially because that force is one that’s always intrigued me.
The Warcry and Underworld stuff looks great.
love the flooring and scenery the figures look great to.
Its really nice to see all this stuff. I’m already playing Warhammer Underworlds so the new stuff for that looks great, and Warcry is very, very tempting.
