Underhive Outcasts Join The Gangs Of Necromunda
November 23, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop is bulking up the different options you get to choose from when building Necromunda gangs. The Underhive Outcasts are on the way this weekend with pre-orders going live for a new set of 28mm Sci-Fi miniatures and a book too.
Underhive Outcasts Gang // Necromunda
Shop Necromunda @ Store.OnTableTop
They might not have found themselves a House to call their own and they might have some of the worst equipment in the Underhive but they make up for it with sheer determination. This set allows you to make a mixed bag of outcasts, vagabonds, thieves, murders and general scum.
The selection of options present in this box allows you to make a gang of Outcasts or perhaps mix and match them with existing sets to create new and interesting characters. I can see a lot of the basic armour types and weapon arms being handy when bolted onto other miniatures.
New Necromunda Rules
Want to play as the House-less? Well, you can also pick up Book Of The Outcast and learn about all the tricks and tips they can use to get one up on the likes of House Goliath or House Escher.
Book Of The Outcast // Necromunda
You'll find new gang tactics, Gang Stronghold rules, Outcast scenarios and a full campaign for Outlanders too. It also comes with additional rules for a select few special characters too that could be handy for your cause.
Underhive Market Necromunda Terrain
Necromunda tabletops are always packed with terrain and interesting narrative elements for your gang to interact with. So, you can also pick up this Zone Mortalis Underhive Market set which is perfect for doing just that.
Zone Mortalis Underhive Market // Necromunda
With loads of shops to visit, boxes, crates and more, this seems like a great place for your Gangers to frequent. I can see this adding another level of narrative to your games of Necromunda and make your Underhive feel more lived in.
Do you think you'll be picking up these new Outcasts for Necromunda?

A chaos cultists box. At last!
Hah yes – I saw this and immediately thought it is going to be THE set people pick up for kitbashing 40K stuff. Similar to the old Empire Free Company from WFB.
Yeah they’ll shift a ton of these
Must admit that I hadn’t thought of that, but yeah … good fit for low level canon fodder.
They also nice Genestealer cultists for similar reasons.
And of course generic enemies for Stargrave 😉
It’s a shame that GW hasn’t exploited the kitbashing aspect for the hobby in general.
I guess the single pose minis are ‘good enough’ for their target demographic.
Well in the first announcment GW themselves said that these guys are compatible with Genestealer Cults and for whatever reason Skitarii.
I like the Madmaxy look to the outcast gangers.
I don*t know, the Underhive Market set looks a bit…. dull? Uninspired? Also the paintjob is way to “bright and clean” for something in the literal Underhive. I wonder how much they’ll charge for it
I sometimes read your posts and think if GW gave you a bar of gold you would complain it was only 9 cts.
@sundancer has a good point though.
For something referred to as ‘the underhive’ it looks a bit too clean.
One could argue that if they made it look dirtier then the detail of the models themselves would be too difficult to demonstrate.
And even then they could have introduced just a tiny bit more variety than just the one option.
yeah but that’s just a paint job, you could paint it dirtier if you wanted to. I am not sure why people get hung up on that sort stuff!
100% lol
No, I do like some of their stuff. Blood Bowl Goblins for example. And I apologize if it annoys you that I speak my mind but I usually try to stick to critique that I find is worth pointing out. As many of us here GW was my entry into the hobby but they are far from being perfect. Nor is any other company. And I’m pretty sure every company that does things like this gets the grognard treatment from me. 🙂
I say sundancer is right, the set while nice is too clean and a bit boring and tame. It’s an underhive market, where is the crazy loot, where are the cooked rats. Where is Cut me own throat dibbler when you need him 😉
Available from forge world next month £££ ?
It doesn’t annoy me at all, the point I made above is that complaining about how something is painted is really a critique of the painter not the miniature itself, and GW aren’t selling the painter. I suspect the reason most of GW’s stuff is so bright and colourful is so in pictures it stands out, if they actually painted everything how it would be in “reality” it would all be a series of murky browns, not exactly an eye-catching advertisement for stuff that isn’t cheap! “roll up roll up everybody come and buy our latest dirty brown thing” doesn’t… Read more »
Maybe not with an Audi but a Jeep maybe? 😉 And I understand the “advertisement” argument. I guess some things can’t be done right no matter what you do 😉
They look like amateur Orlocks… Are just too plain for Necromunda.
I’m seeing a lot of potential here for kitbashes- Chaos cultists, Imperial citizens, wannabe gangers for Orlock or Cawdor, or generic NPCs in your games. The hive market seems like it could really benefit from some heavy Agrax Earthshade, but I still love how it looks.
I’ll definitely be getting the minis and the book.
It’s not so much the “look” of the minis, rather the rather uninspired posing (the chaps with one foot off the ground all look like they are auditioning for the musical number “Singing in the Rain”). The “clean” look is all down to the paintjob (and I’m sure many here can do muddy and washed out colours). What I DO see here are possibilities for doing the never released “Juves” minis for the various house gang. There’s one with a tabard (Orlock), Long Coat (Delaque), patchy/holes torsos (Cawdor), and the big shoulder item for Goliath (sorry no luck for Escher… Read more »
Yeah I wondered that. Either way there are 8 heads shown here and 11 weapons so even if that’s doubled up that’s quite a few options. I look forward to see pics of the sprue.
I’ve seen a pic of the sprue on Dakka and its got 4 bodies, 8 heads and 1 of each weapon (as shown above). It will be 3 sprues then.
So in total thats 12 bodies, 24 heads and 33 weapons.
Cheers for that clarification on what’s going to be in the box. Probably going to pick up a box to kitbash some house gang Juves (rather than using them to build an Outcast gang). For the Outcast gang I much prefer the look of the older Chaos Cultists (luckily I managed to obtain the sprues with the full set with the Heavy Stubbers and Leaders) when GW redid the sprues from the old 7th or 8th Edition 40K Starter set (the one with the Dark Angels and Word bearers in) a couple of years ago. So I’ll be shaving the… Read more »
While not bad at all those do look very boring.
