More Stormcast & Orruks Follow New Age Of Sigmar Edition Release
July 5, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop continued with their previews for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar this weekend. The Dominion Day Livestream offered up a look at new miniatures for both the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Warclans that will be joining your armies over the next few months.
Lord-Commander Bastian Carthalos // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar

The first of the miniatures to be revealed was the absolutely awesome looking Lord-Command Bastian Carthalos. I was loving the look of the new Stormcast Eternals already but this dude is just awesome. I like the style of the armour, the different weapon options and the powerful, purposeful pose.
As one of the leaders of the Hammers Of Sigmar, Carthalos is able to kick some serious butt and he can literally rain down thunderbolts from Azyr onto your enemies. He looks bloomin' awesome.
Another of the new characters comes in the form of the Knight-Relictor. We've already seen Lord-Relictors before but this chap steps in as yet another guardian for your Stormcast Eternals.
Knight-Relictor // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Offering up prayers in the name of the God-King, the Knight-Relictor is a rather serious-looking individual. You get the sense that he does as much smiting as he does praying with that mace in hand.
New Stormcast Eternals Troops
New characters are backed up by new troops. The roster of units available to the Stormcast Eternals expands in their new Thunderstrike Armour. Armed with celestial greatswords, the Vanquishers are here to do exactly as their name suggests.
Vanquishers // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I do still really like the new armour style for these latest Stormcast Eternals and it's good to see more options when it comes to building them too. I like that we've got a vast variety of different heads and helmets. These are super useful for those who want to give a more human feel to their warrior knights.

Lots of body types, plenty of different heads and options for female warriors too. If nothing else, the greater representation here is making me think about how cool these new kits would be for use in Age Of Sigmar: Soulbound. I do like a kit that would work well for a roleplay character or two.
I am a big fan of a miniature with a bow. So, it was good to see Games Workshop giving us new ranged options in the form of the Vigilors.
Vigilors // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Again, a great set of miniatures here with loads of different poses, head options, bodies and weapons. I'm liking the fact that a lot of the new helmets have that stylised Sigmar look to them with the beard crafted around the lower half. It also feels like a neat nod to Grungni who helped forge this new armour.

When you compare these to the originally released Stormcast Eternals, these new miniatures do take it to another level. The original Stormcast were cool but very static. These new miniatures have a lot more style and motion to them.
Big hulking warriors aren't completely sidelined though. The Annihilators are still able to wade into battle and crush some heads.
New Annhilators // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I still really like the look of these miniatures. They feel like they could actually almost single-handedly take on a full regiment of your foes. The new set comes with the hammer and shield combo but you can also arm them with meteoric grandhammers too. I'm not entirely sold on the unhelmeted versions of these warriors though and I reckon I'd make sure they were all tooled up!
The Orruk Warclans Get New Toys!
The Kruleboyz are getting some new characters and units too. We start with the mighty Swampboss Skumdrekk atop a rather terrifying beast.

There is still a real feel of Jackson's Orcs to these new Orruks for Age Of Sigmar. I do really like them though, although I bet they would be a bit of a pain to paint with all of these gribbly bits! I like that they are more Hobgoblin than classic Orc. We've seen a lot of that classic Warhammer Orc for Age Of Sigmar already so it's neat to see a bit of a change.
This kit can also be built as a Snatchboss On Sludgeraker Beast if you prefer.

The idea of these Orruks being sneakier is certainly very appealing. You get the sense that they are genuinely going to steal you away and drag you into the night! There is still a hint of dark comedy to their look but you get more serious vibes for sure.
Dobby clearly had a very bad day as we stick with the vibe of big, nasty monsters. Here is the Marshcrawla Sloggoth.

Another neat chance for Games Workshop to explore the different creatures that dwell in the realm of Ghur. It's good to see the little Grots getting their time in the sun too, packed into that shamble of a howdah. I'd love to see someone showcase this as it drags itself out of a swamp. As if normally, all you'd see is the howdah just drifting across the surface.
As with the Stormcast Eternals, the Orruk Warclans also get themselves some line infantry. The Gutrippaz will be your mainstay, armed with all manner of cruel weapons.
Gutrippaz // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
A good kit to use after you've worked your way through the miniatures in Dominion. Plenty of character in these sculpts as with the whole of the Kruleboyz range.
Gutrippaz // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Ranged options are also available with another set of the Man-Skewer Boltboyz too. Pin down your enemies and drag them off into the swamps!
Man-Skewer Bolt Boyz // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I'd say that this was a neat preview of all the new miniatures that are going to be getting added to Warhammer Age Of Sigmar over the next few months. Games Workshop has stepped up when it comes to the quality of the kits for these two factions and I'd hope we get to see more fun miniatures for a lot of the other factions too.
Orruk Warclans & Stormcast Eternals Battletomes // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
All of these miniatures will feature as part of these new Battletomes. You'll find a new book coming out soon for both the Orruk Warclans and the Stormcast Eternals. Both feature great new art pieces which showcase the new miniatures and the older options available to both factions.

I really like Lord-Commander Bastian Carthalos and the beard helmets the Stormcasts got. The beasties of the Kruelboyz are also great.
Ooh fantastic new figures I see Oden? Is taking to the field.
Stormcast eternal to me like another sort of space marines – so quite boring in my view. However those new orc are quite interesing and the large swamp monster is pretty cool.
The orcs look pretty intresting.
Still not digging the stormcast eternals even with their new tweaked look they just look like the result of some marketing/sales guy going “space marines sell well, lets make fantasy space marines”.
That being said the actual sculpting is quite nice though some of the poses are a little odd. Just saw a video from ZorpaZorp who converted them to space marines and they actually looked very intresting.
Stormcast have the advantage over marines of not being blandest thing ever. There is nothing about marines that is remotely interesting as a concept or execution.
More stormcazzzzzz … Wh what now? The orks look tremendous though.
Orcs look good but those Sigmarines make me yawn.
Sorry Stormcast, the Kruleboyz have officially outshined you! Their range is really providing some great grounded brutishness to the orcs as a whole
Those orks (oh sorry ‘Orruks’) look like they walked straight out of those classic John Blanche paintings that were in ancient Warhammer and 40k lore.
However I think they don’t fit with the rest of the Orks as a faction and the extra spikey bits look ‘wrong’ and unpractical (even though they do add to the character of the minis).
Some nice Urruk hai there! I like where they are taking this army, although Stormcast still don’t win me over.
