New Vampire Lords & Ladies For Your Soulblight Gravelords!
May 17, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop continues their march into the realm of Shyish with a whole bunch of new Soulblight Gravelords for you to play as in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. As well as plenty of new miniatures, we're also seeing the return of some (not so) old miniatures too.

We start off this next raft of releases for the Soulblight Gravelords with a new Start Collecting set which is going live this weekend. This set comes with a mass of Grave Guard, Black Knights and that mighty new miniature for the Wight King On Skeletal Steed which sits at the centre.
These are a lot of the older miniatures in the range but I think when it comes to Start Collecting sets, this one isn't bad! Obviously, we see the return of the wing motif across the collection here but it gels nicely with the Wight King and I think it works for more specialised elements of your army. I would imagine that those old skeletons are a little small when compared to the new Deathrattle ones though?!
It should be noted that the Wight King will be available separately later on down the line but for now, this is the one place you can get him. So, don't panic, he will be available at some point.
Vampiric Lords & Ladies
As well as the new Start Collecting set, we also got a peek at some new Vampire Lords and Ladies who will be in charge of your army of the damned. Belladamma Volga is first out of the gate at the head of the Vyrkos bloodline.
Belladama Volga // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Given the gift of the Lycancurse, Volga is able to control the beasts and twisted creatures of her realm with ease. She has her own wolf mount (which may or may not have been an old suitor!) plus another beast in attendance. Mix her together with an army of fast-moving Dire Wolves (also available this weekend) and you'll have a force that is hard to stop!
Dire Wolves // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Keeping with the theme of wolves, we also have the monstrous new miniature that is Radukar The Beast. After the events of Cursed City, Radukar is now prowling the battlefield looking for enemies to rip limb from limb.

He is also attended to by two of the Vyrkos bloodline and comes ready to utterly dominate in close combat. In this way you could make quite the themed force with Volga at the back, controlling your minions whilst you basically point in a direction and let Radukar do his thing.
Kritza, The Rat Prince is also stepping out of his abode to hunt his foes. Left for dead by Radukar and sustaining himself on the creatures of the sewers, Kritza has quite the affinity for the scavengers that scamper beneath our feet.
Kritza, The Rat Prince // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
He is no slouch in combat. Most vampires are incredibly powerful in combat of course. But, should things go awry he can transform himself into a swarm of rats and reappear somewhere else on the battlefield away from harm. You could also use this to get him into combat I suppose too!
If you prefer bats to wolves and rats then you can also check out the very frightening Lady Annika, The Thirsting Blade.
Lady Annika, The Thirsting Blade // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
The blade that Lady Annika uses allows her to siphon the vital essence of those she kills into her body allowing her to fight on when deep in the midst of battle. This effectively means that when she's getting stuck into combat, she can continue to cut and thrust as long as there are victims for her to destroy.
Radukar's Court
So, it looks like we are heading back to the Cursed City but not in quite the same way. Games Workshop has announced that Radukar and his Court are going to be available ONLY via the Games Workshop webstore.
Radukar The Wolf // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
This does mean that if you missed out on the miniatures from Warhammer Quest then you will be able to pick them up to help bolster your Soulblight Gravelords army. The same goes for Radukar's Court which then gives you access to the nefarious villains that the heroes have to take down during the course of Cursed City.
Radukar's Court // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I'm sure this isn't quite what people had in mind when it came to getting their hands on Cursed City but at least this offers those who wanted the miniatures a chance to pick them up. I would hazard a guess that this means we're not seeing the actual game any time soon. One would also hope that we're going to be seeing the heroes released as their own pack (or individually) in the future.
So, if you wanted to start a new dynasty in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar then you'll soon have a chance to do so. I am particularly liking the wolf theme that runs through Volga and Radukar's miniatures and I reckon if I were to do Soulblight Gravelords, it would certainly be with that in mind. Plenty of big beasts, wolves and bats!
Are you tempted by this weekend's set of pre-orders for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar?

I suppose this does offer a possible answer as too why Cursed City the game has disappeared. It’s clearly not related to the sculpts, so it must be something to do with printing. Perhaps it worked out to costly for GW to get the boards / cards / manuals printed so they basically just pulled the plug. I am guessing like a lot of books these must be printed in China? So shipping maybe an issue? Once loaded onto shipping containers do there stuff make land fall in Europe? so maybe Brexit related problems getting stuff into the country? its… Read more »
Or it could be the result of reality and planning catching up …
Remember : Cursed City was likely planned pre-Covid and pre-Brexit.
Shipping has become a challenge for everyone (and that’s before you add Brexit to the mix).
It’s much easier to box and ship minis than it is to ship a complete game with lots of bits and pieces that need to be available at the same time, because fill half the box and store it until the other half arrives. It all depends on how much of the production process is done “just in time”.
Some good stuff there for a Vampire Counts army.
So they were forced to bring ones from Cursed City to AoS. I do feel sorry for those that ordered Cursed City.
Why do you feel sorry for those that ordered Cursed City heh? You should feel sorry for those who couldn’t get it I would imagine?
Aye, it’s a shame there is no sign of its coming back soon, but I do think its a nice little game even if its just a one off.
I would love them to do some expansion packs, but I cannot complain about what I got, the only issue is the uncertainty really.
He probably feels sorry for those that bought the set for the undead miniatures, thinking they would not be released outside of Cursed City. For Blackstone Fotress only the Chaos Space Marine Lord was released as a blister.
But yes the wohole Cursed City thing is a big mess.
I don’t know why anyone would think the cursed city miniatures wouldn’t be available outside of cursed city. BSF miniatures were released separately, same for Silver Tower. Anything that can find a place in age of Sigmar was destined to be released separately
Wasn’t only the Chaos Space Marine Lord from the core set and the Chaos Cultist from a expansion released seperately?
I suspect that was because there wasn’t any place for the weird droid things in any army. Everything in Cursed City can be used in an AoS army. They won’t release something from one of their board games that doesn’t have wider useage
That makes sense, but as I said I heard that only the Chaos Marine Lord from the core box, which was on an extra spure just like Radukar + Cultist from an expansion where released seperately.
So no heroes which except for the robot would all have uses in a 40K army and none of the Traitor Guard.
So I say it’s not to strange to think only Radukar will be released seperately.
But it’s good they were released seperatley for everyone who missed out on Cursed City.
I wouldn’t feel sorry for those that got Cursed City. Feel sorry for those that didn’t, and will now most likely have to pay a much higher price to get all those models.
also just noticed Lady Annika, The Thirsting Blade’s bat hand, she didn’t have that on the original reveal did she? She was holding a weird little mask if I recall. I am guessing we get a choice of limbs.
I noticed that, too. There are a fair few kits that come with ‘head options’ these days, maybe someone at the office misheard and made a hand option. 😛 I think I actually prefer the bat wing to the creepy mask. 😛
The new figures do look great ?
I really like the vampire models they have released and want to buy them all. However I have already spent this month budget so they will have to wait. In truth it is best to sit down and go through the codex to plan the army rather than just buying one of everything :).
Better to sit down and plan rather than buy one of everything? Wash your dirty whore mouth! And then buy one of everything
