Kangaroos? New Preview Of Age Of Sigmar Lumineth & Soulblight Minis!
January 20, 2021 by brennon
After more leaks (I become suspicious of these every time...who takes terrible photos of this stuff?) we got a look at some of the new miniatures coming to the Lumineth Realm-lords and Soulblight armies of Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar from Games Workshop.
Hurakan Windchargers // Age Of Sigmar
Shop Age Of Sigmar @ Store.OnTableTop
These creatures might look like a cross between a dinosaur and a kangaroo but they are actually called Treerunners and are a different cavalry option for the Lumineth Realm-lords. When they join with their Aelven riders they become Hurakan Windchargers and are a collection of quick and agile options for your army on the tabletop.
Hurakan Windchargers // Age Of Sigmar
I like the fact that Games Workshop has gone with something fun and different for the Lumineth Realm-lords once again, really building on the unique look of the Lumineth Realm-lords. I am still not a big fan of those exceptionally tall hats and I would certainly snip the crests off and smooth them into traditional conical helms like Elves of old.
As well as the Hurakan Windchargers, we also have a new character option for the Lumineth Realm-lords. Here is the Vanari Lord Regent who comes mounted on an as-of-yet unmentioned creature. It looks pretty cool though...
Vanari Lord Regent // Age Of Sigmar
I really like the posing of this creature and you get a sense of the agility it has in battle. I really like all of the armour across the mount, and I think the Lord Regent is also posed nicely too. Even the helmet on this fellow isn't too over the top!
Vampires Of The Mortal Realms
As well as the Lumineth Realm-lords preview, we also got a look at a new character model for the Soulblight faction in Age Of Sigmar. Here is their Vampire Lord. Yes, as was pointed out on social media, this is a pretty normal name for a character in the Mortal Realms!
Vampire Lord // Age Of Sigmar
Taking foot-on-rock syndrome to the next level, this Vampire Lord is a neat return to the classic style of Vampire that a lot of folks love from The Old World. I love that we're seeing this style of Vampire alongside the rabid and bestial Flesh-eater Courts.
As has been pointed out online; this would be a brilliant looking Vampire when painted in Blood Dragon armour. Imagine a lavish claret spilt across that plate armour! I'm ok about the bats in this fellows hair too. It might look a little silly but I get what they are trying to achieve with the overall look of the miniature.
I'm sure there will be plenty more revealed over the weekend during the first Warhammer Preview of 2021.
What do you make of these Age Of Sigmar miniatures?

Pardon my French but I get a bit of a “This anime bullsh*t is getting out of control” feeling from those designs… really don’t like those designs.
Lol next a morfing panda bus.?
or massively oversized swords and titties…
Lol Cloudett.
Japan and its infamous obsession with kangoroos. One cant throw a stone these days without hitting one of these monsters.
As i already said on the forum I really like the kangaroos and the cow 😉
? Kangacows ?
😉
Great name for a 80s tv show. Teenage Mutant Kangacows 😉
Cowabunga brothers !
Love the vampire, but I will be cutting off those bats.
Perhaps he is changing into the flock of bats like Dracula in the film?
Completely agree with this message.
I think they’re bloody daft but I can see a lot of Exodite fans picking up those dinokangaroothings.
I agree. I like the sense of movement from the mount poses, but they really look like something more alien, perfect for Exodites.
Is the top banner not scrolling for anyone else? Definitely reduces viewing area on the site.
Yup it’s not doing it in panoramic still world’s in other way up.
I love them, they are amazing : D
A bit disappointed by the vampire though. Why the heck did he choose this particular stone to stand on ?
I think it is so you can easily replace it with a surf board.
Interesting I’m wondering if you could get the steads separate to use elsewhere.
I doubt it.
I believe, most of the new kits are mono-posed models with parts of the bodies integrated to the mount.
Shame if that’s true.
I think the Soulblight Lord is a great sculpt and the problem is mostly the color scheme.
Count Von Count. Ha ha ha!
Is the Vampire Lord going to be part of a AOS budget range?
it’s the Emo Count … a totally new thing. 😉
Only the sparkles are missing, but I’m sure GW will have a new technical paint just for this one model.
And another vampire stepped out of the shadows, this time for Warhammer Underworlds:

He does look good for vampire Army’s.
that one looks soo much better … but then the bar was really low.
The good news is that the underworlds stuff often has an entry in the codex too.
I suspect it will be no different for this one in the next codex for this faction.
And the full gang is here and a fox for the elves:

Not my thing by any measure. Its good to see GW go for something so different with this faction. Some people seem to like it and so can have something that might otherwise not have been made for the Old World.
If only they spent that amount of creativity on the rest of the factions (both AoS and 40k) …
Those Lumineths have silly helmets just like others in that faction so they are keeping with theme at least. Sure I don’t like how silly those look but still. I would say that that vampire is rather good and I like that his armor looks very much like ones that Blood Dragon vampires had.
I’m really not sure of the direction of the Lumineth Realm-lords. I love some of the models but the mounts on these are just a bit too, strange. But its a made up world and GWs trainset, just would have preferred a more high elf direction. That being said I didn’t like the cow helmeted ones but do now – so yeah time will tell. I like the vampire but not sure about the bats…
I suspect GW were thinking of expanding the High Elf “DRAGON” stuff as the 2nd Edition rulebook has Dragon Princes and Vampires in the army: they would only include such models if they intended to expand the range. For whatever reason they scrapped the Dragon stuff (and retired some of their best models) and replaced them with this sad Lumineth bull stuff (the bog troops are fine but the rest…). The Vampires were also present in the Rulebook if you looked closely and now we’re seeing them finally released. I’ll suggest that someone at GW ordered the “Dragon elves” to… Read more »
OMG, GW has really sh*t the bed this time!
I don’t hate them.
But I don’t love them either.
The first pic with the single mount and rider looks okay, I guess. But when you see the whole unit it really just doesn’t do anything for me at all.
Once again the helmets are just horrible.
The over large bows seem like they wouldn’t be very cavalry efficient, but it is fantasy.
But those damn helmets… I just cant get over this huge helmet arms race the elves have going for them.
The bow are actually the most realistic part, they look (number of strings aside) just like japanese samurai bows. That being said, I had a reverse experience- hated the individual model, feel they look amazing as a herd/unit.
Nope. Just nope. Even the vampire I’m not keen on the head…
Skippy, Skippy…..Skippy the war-kangaroo,
Skippy, Skippy…..Skippy madness ever new.
God I hate the lumineth range, they originally sold it as going back to the older high elf look. I got quite excited, maybe I could use some in my army but then they dropped. I’ve never so disliked a miniature range in my life, they’re just ridiculous and what’s with the cow thing? I just dont get it.
Luckily my GW fan boy days are over but still seeing this makes me sad.
Couldn’t agree more. I was looking forward to adding a few heroes or unique units to my existing GW high elf army, but can’t bite on this. They’re also hard on the wallet.
Still, there’s bargains to be had with the old stuff on EBay… although discontinued armies are getting more expensive overall.
I actually really dig these. I know a lot of people will absolutely hate them, and that’s fair. But I gotta be honest, I’m super tired of the same old elves in every single fantasy game, its stale. I’m happy the mounts are fantastical, because this indeed a fantasy game. The old world is dead, horses no longer exist and I’m absolutely happy they went this direction. Will I personally field them? No, I’m not an elf player – but I absolutely respect the direction they are taking and how each faction is getting some personality now. A bit of… Read more »
I can’t even. What on earth were GW thinking?
