The Lumienth Realm-Lords Arrive In Age Of Sigmar This Weekend
September 1, 2020 by brennon
The newest faction for Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar is going to be available to pre-order this weekend as Games Workshop introduces the Lumineth Realm-lords into the mix. Teclis has arrived and his army is on the march to reclaim their portion of the Mortal Realms from the clutches of Chaos.

Leading the way we have Teclis himself who has now ascended to godhood and seeks to remake the Aelves in a new way. Teclis here is shown floating here next to the mighty Celennar who is no doubt the equal to the powerful mage in her own way. I'm still not entirely sold on the look of Teclis here as he seems like a little bit of a bolt-on rather than being connected to the rest of the miniature. It also seems like another massive headache to transport to your next game...
When it comes to more transport-appropriate heroes you've also got The Light Of Eltharion who is a take on a classic character from The Old World who has been reborn in the Mortal Realms to keep fighting for his kin.
The Light Of Eltharion // Age Of Sigmar
The miniature is bloomin' awesome and I love the way this has been sculpted to show off the negative space in such a lovely way. Whilst Games Workshop might have a few missteps here and there I think this is possibly one of their best miniatures in the last few years.
Building on the sorrow and tragedy of the Aelves in Age Of Sigmar you've also got the Scinari Cathallar. She draws on the sadness of her race in order to cast her spells and ruin foes with magical power.
Scinari Cathallar // Age Of Sigmar
Much like how The Light Of Eltharion is a rather fantastic sculpt, the Scinari Cathallar is a miniature which painters are going to have a lot of fun with. Are you going to be able to attempt painting that transparent look to her veil which falls gently across her features? Or, will you try something different?
Building Your Lumnieth Realm-lord Army
As well as the characters that lead the way, you've also got the core of your army becoming available this weekend. Spearmen and Archers, core elements of any Elf army, are going to be available to help expand upon what was available in the original launch set that came out a few months ago.
Vanari Wardens // Age Of Sigmar
Whatever you might think about some of the other miniatures in the Lumineth Realm-lords range, the consensus seems to be that the core options available to the army look awesome. A lot of people are fully on board with these Vanari Wardens and the Sentinels who rain down fire from above.
Vanari Sentinels // Age Of Sigmar
I think that the sculpts here bring together a lot of what people liked about the classic Elves from Warhammer Fantasy and updates them just enough for Age Of Sigmar and the Mortal Realms. They remind me a lot of the Lothern Sea Guard from The Old World as an example.
Lumineth Realm-lord Books, Spells & Dice
As well as the miniatures you'll also finally be able to crack open their Battletome and start making full armies.
Lumineth Realm-lords Battletome // Age Of Sigmar
As always, this will feature all of the information you need to build an army of Aelves in Age Of Sigmar plus lots of background on them and how they fit into the Mortal Realms. I am interested to see how this book explores Teclis' relationship with the other forces of Order and what plans he has for his portion of the Aelven race.
As well as the rules you'll also be able to buy some accessories like their Endless Spells and summoned sorceries which seem like they are both defensive and helpful in offering buffs to your troops.
Lumineth Realm-lords Endless Spells // Age Of Sigmar
Also, if you want to get zany you can also pick up this set of limited edition barrel-shaped dice which feel very Aelven and just what you'd want to help add a bit of glamour to your Lumineth Realm-lord force.
Lumineth Realm-lords Dice // Age Of Sigmar
Watch out for lots more in the coming weeks for the Lumineth Realm-lords as they have cavalry waiting in the wings, heavily armed and armoured infantry plus those massive spirits who inform a lot of the designs that appear throughout the army as a whole.
Are you going to be picking up these new miniatures?

Those are some really fancy looking elves. Teclis got himself friend and The Light Of Eltharion looks like updated version of Tyrion.
The paintjob on the Scinari Cathallar is a work of art… but the sculpts… not mine
I just positively hate The Teclis model. Just everything about it makes me hate it. Which is really remarkable, in its own strange way. Its style, theme, colors, and how it all comes to together is just a horrible piece of crap. That pose is just dumb as fuck to me, and that stupid helmet just makes it worse. As far as game table pieces go, its even worse then that… I just hate it. No other word for it. LOL. Knowing that its going to be over 160 dollars just makes me cringe. The sphinx would have been so… Read more »
I’ve had a while to think about it and … no they’re still dreadful. Except the empty armour guy: he’s as good as the rest are bad.
All a bit of train wreck IMHO.
I’m more of a fan of these than I’d like to admit. The Spearmen are fine, the bow men could do with “de fancying” (and just have a normal bow). The Cav they’ve done (not posted here) are also really nice as well. And I like the whole “eastern” look to the re-imagining, I really like those fancy dice that look like Buddhist prayer wheels (I might pick up a set for “eastern” games anyway as I don’t play AoS). However like others I loath the Teclis model (again looks more like a shelf ornament), it’s just too busy, too… Read more »
As an aside, do you feel the overall look of these new elves is a deliberate attempt to crack the Chinese market? I definitely am getting a “fantasy” Chinese movie vibe from the range…
Not sure from what, they’re your usual pajamas+armor elves except some guys have cow heads on their helmets now.
Interesting figures love teclis an griffin.
*Reads recent GW releases about House Orlock and new Necrons* Wow, so much positivity! It’s weird to hear people THIS behind a new GW release, great to see they’re enjoying letting their imaginations run wild and have fun with the settings. *Reads GW release about the Lumineth* …And there’s all the complaining again. Felt naked for a second. In all seriousness, I’m not bothered by the Lumineth. It’s still nice to see GW flexing their creative muscles when it comes to bizarre concepts like the animated armor or the freaky Hyshian sphynx. AoS, like it or hate it, is one… Read more »
I like a lot of the range although I can understand why it doesn’t fit well with everyone but I’ll echo what others have said and say the Teclis model is awful. It comes close to being really good; I like the Sphinx on its own and I get the theory that Teclis is meant to be in partnership with it, hence why he doesn’t ride it, but the model is a misstep (and I generally like the direction a lot of AoS has gone in). Also as a side note, the Lumineth have a pretty small range (the smallest?).… Read more »
It does seem like pt.1 of 2, and the book mentions air and water temples, plus chariots and war machines in the lore section, so it definitely feels like there will be more in a year or two.
That being said, I wish the moon spirit was like, 1/3rd smaller (my big gripe with the big centerpieces is that they take up whole foam box on their own just to move them, and as someone relying on public transport…not fun!) and teclis looks like a frog sadly.
Still don’t really like Teclis as a whole… i don’t like the monster itself and Teclis’s pose… I love Scinari Cathallar model, the paintjob with the see-through vale is awesome! I like the soldiers mounted and on foot and the The Light Of Eltharion is great.
As far as the monsters go (not shown here): i hate them!
Already have my hands full with 3 AoS armies so, a pass for me…
Man i just had a good laugh…. that Teclis model..!!! Its like somebody in GW said to the artist..”think lady gaga & Pride week”……
Ooooh that’s going to stick now, Teclis is now forevermore to be referred to as “Lady Gaga” 😀
And each time you look at it.. its “born this way or rain on me” going around the inside your head..!! Really needs rainbow colours….
I may be stoned to death for saying this, but on a whole I think Lumineth looks awesome. Not completely sure about Teclis, who looks a bit like a sticker that has been slapped on next to the Elven Sphinx Beast. The details on Teclis, and especially the folds in the fabric, look very well sculpted, but the character looks a bit two-dimensional. Perhaps a 360• view would convince me otherwise. TBH: I’m not a fan of the gods being directly involved with the battlefield, so I would probably not field him anyway. This is probably also the reason why… Read more »
The Light Of Eltharion model is just sublime. The rest for me is a firm pass even though I was looking forward to this release. The basic design is nice, but then all the extra fussiness they have added just makes it look odd for me.
I don’t know how you can mess up Teclis but Gdubs seemed to go out of their way to mess him up. Sad times. The standard infantry are the best models in this failure of a faction – they suggested these would be classic elves and instead they give us … nonsense elves with mallets and over the top floating rocks and ARG why. OK. Notice the £1.50 price hike too. Which is crazy as they must know these models aren’t going to sell (given they couldn’t’ shift the box set of this). At least the infantry and cav are… Read more »
