Ride To Ruin With Forge World’s Elfhelm, Captain Of Rohan
March 2, 2019 by brennon
Forge World has now added another character into the mix for those choosing to play as Rohan in the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. Check out Elfhlem, Captain Of Rohan.
"One of the foremost Captains of Rohan, Elfhelm fought alongside Théodred at the Ford of Isen, and later led a company of Rohirrim in the charge that broke the lines of Mordor in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Elfhelm is a talented horseman and renowned for his skill with a throwing spear."
Elfhelm is one of the characters somewhat forgotten by the movies but now sees life on the tabletop. I am very much liking the look of the mounted version but something about the on-foot version doesn't look quite right. I think, once again, it might be something to do with the painting here.
Check out the detail they've worked into the mounted version though.
He is a rather awesome character to throw into the mix and perhaps if you were looking to rewrite history and have Theodred survive the battle at the Isen, you could have him riding to war with his royal companion.
What do you think of the new miniature?

I think it is the paint job. Nice looking models all the same.
he would work well as theodred.
I don’t like the hair blowing to the side on the ground model ,think it looks wrong, mounted is cool though so probably still get
£25! *choke* For that? Could be the paint job, but not at all impressed.
I have got to say that although I am a fan of MESBG and have spent a stupid amount of money on models for the game over the last 17 years, which includes much Hobbit Forge World stuff, I really don’t think this model is up to snuff. Its OK, but it really doesn’t do Forge World credit in my view. The paint job isn’t the best, but the posing is just meh. Particularly the foot model which is just a dialled-in “foot on rock” boring stance, but even the mounted models looks wierd – like the horse is just… Read more »
