Pre-Order the Mighty Fire Power of Forge World’s Stormhammer!
February 20, 2015 by dracs
Forge World have a new tank that they are now putting out for pre-order, an armoured vehicle with enough fire power to make Khorne say "woh, that's a bit overkill." Behold the mighty Solar Auxilia Stormhammer!
The Stormhammer is a super-heavy tank that often features in the vanguard of the Imperium's invasion forces, making light work of the enemy with its nine independently firing weapon systems!
The vehicle comes loaded out with:
- A turret-mounted Stormhammer cannon with co-axial multi-laser
- A hull-mounted dual battlecannon
- A hull-mounted lascannon
- Six sponson-mounted multi-lasers
The sponson guns also have the option to be swapped out for heavy bolters, heavy flamers, or lascanons. In other words, this tank could deal with practically anything the enemy might have.
This massive tank is a rolling fortress, with its weaponry and armour making it a true beast on the tabletop, while Forge World's highly detailed design makes it look even cooler. The Stormhammer will most likely be the largest thing on the table barring a Titan and will make a superb centre piece for an Imperial force.
The rules for the Stormhammer can be found in The Horus Heresy Book 4 - Conquest.
Do you plan to pre-order a Stormhammer yourself?

Already got one, mwahahahaha!!!
That is rather impressive tank.
I love the exhaust system on this one.
oo ya beauty
would look good next to my still un-built baneblade, ha
Now that is a lot of guns. I particularly like the double decker cannons.
It’s weird that I’m strangely disappointed by this kit. I loved the original design and would love to see that get made. Perhaps if it did, I look at this again with fresh eyes and like it for what it is.
All those cannon remind me vaguely of the xenomorph from Alien. “My God, look at all those teeth! And behind those teeth . . . MORE TEETH!”
Seriously, what does this thing have, like eight miniguns? I wouldn’t want to lead an infantry assault on this thing. 🙁
Would sir care for an extra serving of cannons to go with his cannons? 😉
Hi oriskany. I thougt a tank like this might draw you out. Welcome to your new designation as a ‘tread-head’. Such a tank would be insanely impractical of course – too large and easy a target, too heavy, too slow, too taxing on supply lines – but that is where the fantastical element of a game like 40K comes in. It is the place where the most ridiculously over the top WW1 and WW2 style tank designs go to play.
Yes, I think I’m ready to order? okay, I’ll start off with the appetizer of cannons, please? Could we get another appetizer plate of cannons for the table to pick on? Great. Now for my entree, I can’t choose between the surf-‘n’-turf cannons or the cannons marsala . . . should I just get both? Great. That comes with cannons on the side, right? With cannon sauce? If I can’t finish it all I’ll just get my cannons to go. Now, about dessert . . .
May I suggest that sir might consider the Cannon Surprise? Or perhaps a dessert hailing from across the Atlantic, the bomb-mort-on; a cannon inside a mortar inside a bombard…?
Sounds delicious. 🙂 I’ll take two.
Take into account though, this is a tank made 38 thousand years in the future, made from stronger and lighter materials, and despite that, it still apparently weighs over 300 tonnes and can apparently do 11mph off-road with 8.6 inch armour made from super amazing mega metals… Only issue I could ever find with it is like you said, keeping it supplied with ammo lol.
I think it probably would need its own mobile ammunition factory.
I need one! …to paint of course…. I NEED ONE!
Love the tank but NEVER buy Games Workshop Corps NEVER AGAIN.
It’s a WW1 dreadnought on tracks…
I remember this from back in the day, particularly using them in Final Liberation.
Ironically, this model is actually undergunned!
If I didn’t have about two tons of plastic to paint already I would be very tempted to get one of these!
And we were just talking about other “Land Cruisers” on the history forum.
I’m not attacking that thing without a wing Corsairs.
I’m rather let down with the amount of cannons it has. It should have… at least 5 big cannons pointing out the back so they all fire at once to make the tank move forward from recoil. Now that would be a tank!
