Forge World Give The Tau Even Bigger Guns
August 3, 2015 by brennon
It looks like Forge World are going to be getting something with even bigger guns than they already possess. This titanic piece of resin was spotted on their blog...take a look.
I know that the eye is immediately drawn to those rather large guns on its shoulders but it also has dozens of missiles on its chest plating AND burst cannons. There look to be more missiles on it's shoulders and that's not without counting the arm.
So, overkill or just what you need to destroy those who oppose The Greater Good?
Let us know!

Overkill imo. Looks silly… and I like Tau.
I don’t agree with you often, but i also do find this one looking silly…..
He just makes up for all the silly melee weapons people bring to the battlefield 😉 I used to play Tau and did so for the guns, but here i can hardly see the model for all the weapons 🙂
i think i see a big target painted on it…
Your not kidding! I took pictures of it at the FW open day, its huge!

After a fair bit of fluff about how the Tau don’t have much time for the impractically sized war engines of the Imperium and Orks, it seems they finally gone a bit Pacific Rim (but with much more firepower, which seems like a good idea when one thinks about it) and just given in and built a titan sized battle suit. I imagine seeing Tyranids eat your Sept World colonies might refocus one’s priorities a bit. You can definitely see the anime influence on this design, especially with all the guns on its guns, just in case the main guns… Read more »
Hmmm.. the Bismark can walk! When those guns on his back fire, the recoil will have it land on his ass or in china.
This is a Tau titan!

Enjoy.
Recoil is only a problem for guns with projectiles. If it’s a Laser or so, there’s no recoil. Therefore no problem.
Besides the crowded arms, it does look like this suite.. if you can call it a Battlesuit anymore?
Has at least three pilots, so a crew plus possible drone remote firing programs.
Not sure if want? I’m sure FW have a great reason for the Tau to get scared enough to start building titans. A Warlord Titan would change someones mind pretty quick as the Railguns pattered against it’s void shields.
I like the idea of a Tau Titan, but this design just doesn’t fit the Tau esthetic. It has too much guns and looks way too blocky overall. I would much rather have seen an upscaled version of their Riptide design.
Um… it needs more cannons!
Too much dakka (even for an ork fan).
C’mon can GW/FW please make some melee units for tau? I get that shooting is taus bread and butter but it would make a nice refreshing change.
Wow, nice piece of kit the orks are getting!
Oh wait, this is supposed to be Tau…?

There’s a much better picture
Different angles I got at the open day

I take it this is 40K as the TAU were not in the 30K universe?
I do actually quite like this, but what’s got me more excited, is that know Tau Titans officially exist.
So when the rules for this are eventually released, players will be able build and field they own Tau Titans, using the Forge World rules.
I’m sure plenty of inventive conversions will follow 🙂
I love it.it scratches all my mecha needs.
It is knight-titan sized, peeps who attended FW open day, reported it being knight cerastus like in height.
Also the guns on his back are rail guns. They have no recoil.
So Tau saw Macross and König Monster in it and thought that it would be good idea to make big battlesuit with trio of big guns in it’s back.
Railguns still have recoil. Newton’s Third Law still applies.
If you’re accelerating a mass in one direction, be it via chemical explosives, electromagnetic induction or stored energy in an elastic band, an equal amount of energy is going to push back the opposite way down the barrel.
Unless the fluff writers have decreed that they use space magic to fire the rounds… I don’t put it past them to come up with that explanation!
Come on seriously? In a sci fi universe with wizards, planet eating aliens and elven killer clowns, recoil or lack there off is an issue?
In my mind Tau aren’t bound by our understanding of how the universe works, and it is still our understanding, who knows we might be massively wrong. Taus railguns give off no recoil in my mind.
Which is why I haven’t been able to look at anything 40k related for several years – what with the flying shoeboxes and the Santa wolf-sleigh.
Which is strange, because up until a few years ago I was totally on-board with it all. I’m aware that playing with toy soldiers involves a fair amount of “suspension of disbelief “. I’m just wondering if my disbelief got suspended from too great a height and something snapped!
Those three guns on the back are OTT, the rest of the model looks really nice though
So those tiny feet are meant to carry all of that while it shoots…
