Empire Of Man Range Expands For Warhammer: The Old World
November 26, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop previewed the next big release for Warhammer: The Old World that will be coming soon. The Empire Of Man is galvanising to strike back against the forces of Chaos and Destruction threatening their borders.
Arcane Journal: Empire Of Man // Warhammer: The Old World
At the core of the new release is the brand-new Arcane Journal for the Empire Of Man. This is not required to play the Empire Of Man in Warhammer: The Old World (the full rules are available already in Forces Of Fantasy) but this will give you additional rules for playing more involved games. You'll find new Armies Of Infamy for the City-state of Nuln and the Knighty Orders Of The Empire as well as new special characters, units and magic.
If this has you buzzing to dive into the Empire Of Man then you'll be able to get your hands on the Empire Of Man Battalion which could form a good starting point for your army.

The set comes with returning plastic kits including thirty State Troops and thirty State Missile Troops. They are then supported by the rumbling Steam Tank which should give you the edge when it comes to conquering the battlefield. Add a few characters into the mix and you should be ready to go with 1000-point games.
Returning Plastic Kits
As you'll have no doubt grasped, all of the old plastic kits for the Empire of Warhammer Fantasy Battles are coming back to the webstore in the next few months. You'll be able to get the Commanders Of The Empire set which might be a good way to bulk out that Battalion.

Additional plastic sets, of which there are too many to show off here, include the State Troops, State Missile Troops, Flagellants, Greatswords, Archers and Free Company Militia. I think that I might need to get the Free Company Militia set just so I can build some nostalgic Mordheim warbands.

More plastic kits are also on the way for classic Empire-based weaponry like Cannons, Mortars, the Helblaster Volley Gun and Helstorm Rocket Battery. But wait, there's more! There are also the returning Empire Knights, Pistoliers and Demigryph Knights. Even the War Altar Of Sigmar returns alongside the Steam Tank we saw earlier.

That is a lot of classic plastic returning to the tabletop. We've not seen anything yet concerning new plastics for the Empire Of Man but I'm sure that will be coming down the pipeline.
Returning Forge World Resin Kits
Resin miniatures aplenty are also coming back from the folks at Forge World including some excellent-looking character sets.

These were all pretty much lost to time so it's good to see them coming back. You have some stern-looking commanders and a wonderfully over-the-top Battle Standard Bearer. The famous (or infamous) War Wagon is also returning to the tabletop with a brand new, reworked Forge World Resin kit.

Some of these miniatures will be available generally whilst others will be on a Made To Order basis like the Engineer in the picture above. I'm sure plenty more will be coming to bulk out the resin offerings for the Empire Of Man as well.
Returning Metal Miniatures
Last but not least, there are going to be a massive amount of returning metal kits as well. The classic Warrior Priests of the Empire are back with some amazing miniatures that ooze with nostalgia. I loved this set and I think I have all but one of these in a box somewhere.
Warrior Priests // Warhammer: The Old World
A Battle Standard Bearer, Witch Hunter, Warrior Priests Of Ulric and Engineers are on the way as well as Grand Masters Of The White Wolf, Knights Panther and Blazing Sun. You can also go full Ulric with the Teutogen Guard Warriors and Command plus the classic Imperial Ogres.

If you're an Old World fan then you're getting spoilt for choice here. All that is old is new again and it's good that the majority are coming back in both plastic and metal. As mentioned above, these will be great kits for making armies but I can already see a lot of folks who love their Indie Grimdark wargames getting stuck in and snapping up these miniatures.
Could you be tempted by this re-release of the Empire Of Man?
