Oooh… interesting (finally someone at GW shows how to layer highlights with glazes), but I think he should push the piant the other way when painting yellow.
Still, this will teach people precision…
I would advise anyone to sink a brush that deep into the paint, it will ruin your wallet.
That’s GW for you…
Could it be that they are trying to learn from their recent woes? This is miles away from the approach on their painting manual (almost a “paint by numbers” thing, imo)! Many years ago many of us learned a lot from the WD painting articles (but now they’ve gone and killed WD :'( ). If they realized that even a 12 yo will be happier if he/she gets better results and will not buy less for that then GW deserves praise (and how hard that would be for me… :D). Is GW trying to return to the real modelling world?… Read more »
I enjoyed watching these new videos from GW. They really push beyond the 3 color standard and have some helpful tricks for beginners. I’d still refer to Romain and John for advanced techniques.
Wow good for them in showing this kind of thing. Agree with @elromanozo on the direction of the paint, I’d go the other way, but interesting that it works the other way i guess! The finish doesn’t loook too bad going in that direction.
If it gets people to start doing a little blending on their minis who wouldn’t otherwise that’s great.
Oh, you can achieve exactly the same result going in any direction… it’s just easier to go the other way.
“Now that I’ve finished the sword I’ll need to go and buy another couple of brushes as I’ve completely knackered these ones!” Is a line from the video GW decided to edit out.
I think I’ll stick with Romain’s tutorials.
Good vids, enjoyed it.
