So your fancy tank has no guns left! It’s time to put the foot to the floor and start Tank Shocking. But who should you run over first, humm I wonder what Darrell thinks? Knowing him I’d say he’d look for a soft target something like a kitten maybe. Yes of course a possessed Chaos kitten.

Your absolutely right Darrell, once you have a weapon destroyed on a vindicator tank, tankshock is the only option. However i would tankshock the seargent if it was not a mission pertaining kill points. Simply hoping for an explosion that could potentially kill a few marines.

I tend to do this with surplus rhinos, once my squad’s on the objective I madly race around the board trying to scare people away(hell it even works now and then lol)
I once declared death or glory on a rhino with Arjac Rockfist, used his shooting profile (for the AP1) and promptly rolled a 2 on the damage table, which was upped to a 3. Took it’s stormbolter clean off and then died >.< A 2 was the only roll that would have killed him lol
I’m sorry,not wanting to be harsh oranything,but it was a rather stupid choice as the thunderhammer’s rule makes that any damage alo cause “crew shaken”,which is always enough to stop the tank-shocker….anyway,i’m sure you won’t make that mistake twice….

Actually crew shaken doesn’t stop the vehicle only stunning/destroying works. besides I kinda like the image of a crazy space viking hurling a hammer at a speeding tank lol
well,in fact stunning a tank-shocking….tank? is enough to stop it (p69:
“If the model successsfully managed to stun,destroy orimmobilise it,the vehicle grinds to a halt directly in front of the heroic individual (or blows up there!)”
But I agree with the coolnesss of that situation,althought i tend to prefer when the space viking Survives,

I like this new let Darrell just explain rules and be sexist format, much more clean cut then when John or Warren get annoyed at his comments.
I once Death or Gloried a Fire Warrior when a Land Raider tank shocked. He wasn’t very happy when my EMP grenade wrecked it. Still the Terminators got out and avenged the death of their tank.
I tend to laugh when someone Tank Shocks my Mycetic Spores looking for an easy kill and forgetting that it’s a MC with 2D6 armor pen.
Taking out a squishy trooper with treads is always a blast though.

Beasts of War, you guys need to make a T-shirt with Darrel + his quotes on it. Something along the lines of “We think its excellent” or “There is no such thing as cheesy” I’d buy it in an instant.

Basically when you use a vehicle, like a tank, to drive into a squad.

I have never seen the point in owning a vindicator. But you menchens the whilewind. I do have one of these and I use it against hord armies. I always get my points worth out of it in infantry kills.

Im enjoying Darrell being let loose in front of the camera and pretty much being able to say what he wants! Im sure John is frowning wherever he is but long may it continue… another good showing from “Probably the best wargamer in the world”. And who takes a Vindicator anyway!
Is there logic in ploughing through the middle (hopefully through a regular troop type or two) hoping to take out enough to force the unit to flee and also be out of coherence and therefore not allow a rally check? Or have I missed a glaringly obvious rule on this?
Isn’t a tank shock against the unit instead of specific models as that would allow any model in the unit to attempt “Death or Glory”?
I like to think of it as a tank shaped template attack. Whatever lies under the tank shaped template as it runs through the unit can declare a DoG.
In the rules it says any models in the vehicles path, can’t exactly have the sgt 6″ away power fist it to death
I had to double check that earlier and he’s right, probably not a big shock. That little line in the BRB makes this strategy so useful. Its so easy to forget that sometimes in a battle unless you are the master of the cheese.

Well I sometimes use vehicles to tankshock my oponent away from an objective. If I had a weapon destroyed Vindicator, that would be an awsome way to use him.
But then it deosn’t matter who you tankshock anyway, the modells on the objective have to leave!
Also tankshocking a modell on free terrain, that can’t hurt the vehicle is useless, cause the opponent will just move away.
Hey isn’t that the table they haven’t showed us how to finish yet? Plus aren’t the marines just going to move out of the way anyways. As I understand it, if the tank shocked unit fails the moral test they move out of the way, if they pass the moral test they can move out of the way. If you hit the little guy who can’t destroy the tank won’t he just move out of the way? I think if you fail the moral test you should be stuck in the way and everybody who is in the way takes… Read more »
Nice video never really knew you could target individuals, thought it was a unit thing. Darrell you were pretty entertaining in this vid, although perhaps lonely without the others in matching t shirts 😛
Don’t forget that the unit still has to pass it’s leadership test before they can even decide to DoG or not..

Any vehicle with Type:tank in it’s profile can tank shock, so for WH it’d be rhinos, chimeras, exorcists, immolators and land raiders.
I believe Darrell has it right, but it is a bit iffy of a tactic. However, if the vindicator has lost its weapon, it might as well tank shock. I feel it may work best on models with a low leadership value. Taking text from the big rule book, pg 68 and 69, “the unit must take a morale check and will immediately fall back if it fails it. If the test is passed the unit will simply let the tank move through,”. A unit that passed its morale test, can perform a death or glory attack, but only ONE… Read more »

As im a DC player i have little use for tanks and dont understand the rules/purpose of tank shocking? can someone help me out 🙂
Its mostly for fun, it can be used to get a unit off of an objective. other than that what else are you going to do with you weapon destroyed tanks, might as well go out in a blaze of craziness.
Moving them off objectives is usually the best use, after that chasing low leadership units off the board. I’ve used a rhino to chase IG heavy weapon teams off the board before >=]

Depends, mine usually do fairly well splatting stuff with str10 pie plates, but some people hate them and claim they never hit anything. Just a case of try and see how they work for you.
