Warhammer: March and Fire for Skirmishers
July 15, 2010 by johnlyons
John and Darrell have a good old natter about how in 8th edition of Warhammer Fantasy, skirmishers are allowed to March and Fire. Making them a lot more versatile than they previously were. EVEN GNOBLARS have their uses as Darrell demonstrates in this video.

What ya like Darrell they can’t take you anywhere lol…
Perfect for getting around the back and going for isolated characters or war machines – oh and never underestimate the tactical effect of annoying the hell out of your opponent 🙂
they’ll only be able to march and fire in this way if they pass their leadership as they are within 8″
just to let u know skirmishers in this edition have to be in a spacific order and uniform. refer to big rule
and what with everything being able to get wounded on a 6, you could very easily take out a giant with enough fire from those trappers. Easily earning back their points!
and that could mean my shadow warriors (high elves scouts guys) could have a great lot of fun when joined by daddy alith anar and his bolt-thrower-bow….not exactly a cheap unit but i’ll soon give it a try….*evil yet high grin*
Skink skirmishers just went up in my mind. Small teams of skinks with blowpipes.
Yess! my skink army used to annoy the hell out of my opponents in the last couple of editions but now the skirmishing horde will rise again.
this actually just gained priority over completing my monsterbash army.
DE Shades (BS 5!!! And then a March of 10″ as well) and Dark Rides with Repeating Crossbows (makes you wish they could have Repeater Hand Bows like in the Old-Old days), Ouch! Will be fun throwing poison wind globes after marching (they where a bit stuck with only 5″ movement befor).
I thought that, in the previous edition, you were allowed to double move (not march) because of the more loose formation. As a result, you could still shoot, just without the -1 BS penalty. If I am wrong,t hen that was certainly the case in 6th edition (and there weren’t enough rules changes for me to scour through the 7th book TOO hard, so that’s my excuse 😀 ). So, to me, this doesn’t feel new and actually is more difficult because you have to take a leadership test if within 8″ of the enemy now. The upside is that… Read more »
Now that rule is fantastic…..am defo going to get sum shades and hopefully thtrees on the board dont kill me LOL
i see this making Poison Wind Globadiers very very very fun :D. shame the wind mortar doesn’t count as a skirmisher
i think i’m going to use the globadiers, 2 squads of 5 in a 2k point battle will cause some serious flank trouble!
Where’s the bloody video and why has YouTube suspended BoW’s account?
The video is basically gone for ever(unless someone finds it on a hard drive in BoW towers to upload as a re-run), as for why youtube did it, literally only youtube know, they wouldn’t tell Warren when he asked, but they didn’t object to BoW creating the new channel that they’ve been uploading stuff on for about a year.
