Will give them a looksee
My downloads show the fancy font as a blur, which means that I can’t read the titles. Could it be my Mac? Anyone else have this issue?
Could it be your zoom level? I couldn’t read the cards for the stats at first, blurred also, but after zooming in to 200% all was OK! They print fine btw.
Nope, it’s not the zoom. Doesn’t work properly at any scale 🙁
Seems alright on my craptop, it might be just the mac.
Anyone else having problems?
I’ll have another try later. I can read the bodytext, it’s just the swanky wild west font it doesn’t like.
It’s Preview that doesn’t like it. Acrobat Reader views it fine.
You may call the flying monkeys back to their roosts.
I can´t read the rules properly on the Mac either. Unfortunatly the rules become useless because I can´t read it all.
It could be the fancy font on the PDF. However, once rendered into a PDF, the font type shouldn’t be an issue.
Perhaps @lloyd and his team of flying monkeys can sort this out… fly my pretties… fly!
I downloaded the Adobe reader. It works fine now.
so the hand cards are the draw (which are perm stats?) and the dice are the flop?
oh yeah watching late night poker helps…
lol Marshall “Big Man” Warren! nice one. Looks cool guys. Btw, no linky to your Poker Dice in the show notes! 😉
I’ll fix that… hang on… fixed! 😀
Rules look fine with acrobat reader and google crome reader. Looks like a lot of fun.
They look pretty good – maybe you should add a vast array of weapons – people like that. By the way, the Big Guy has a double barrel shotgun, and not a rifle, so it may be worth making some rules for one!
@peatreed 😀
One step at a time… shotguns are coming. 😉
Thanks, I like a good close up and personal skirmish game!
I crap at poker.
That should have been ‘I’m crap at poker’.
God knows what is up with my typing today….. Need a edit option on here….
@torgaming Then Poker Dice should be right up your street… they’ve nothing to do with being good at the card game… and GFYG has a mechanic based on luck or skill.
It just depends how good you are at judging your odds. 😉
It’s because I can never remember what hand is what. lol
that should be need “an” edit option
Sweet, I got my name flashed in a video 😀
I’m sure you’ve considered it, but create-a-character would certainly be good.
Sweet! Ive been waiting for this. I got my cowboys and indians done and painted up. Theyre in minirama. Personally i dont like pre-measuring. It makes more sense for games like this, where range is always a guess. I accept it on scifi games like infinity or warpath because soldiers there generally have built in lazerfinders in their helmets, or HUD’s, but it just makes gameplay more exciting. I noticed on the characters you removed the bounty. Is that something you are bringing in later? Just wanted to give us a bit at a time? Well im reading through the… Read more »
Awesome, just ordered two sets of dice off some place cheap! 😉 The illustrations are excellent! Is there going to be a Quick Draw McGraw type of character? There has to be a Mad Dog Tannen type of guy in there, maybe Mad Dog Darrell? Or should that be Bar Fly Darrell, a legendary gunslinger, now a drunk, who gives out expert shootin’ tactics for bottles o’ whiskey. If he’s in your posse, he gives you some sort of benefits for shooting, for as long as he’s alive, or plied with drink lol. 😛 For a doctor character’s name, how… Read more »
What? no objectives yet?….Just combat? We’ll have to come up with a few theme based scenarios to play. Like “stop the hangin’,” “rob the stagecoach,” “saloon brawl,” “chased out of town,” or something involving prostitutes. Either way, looks fresh and new…cant wait to give it a go.
western frontier here i come yehaa
i like the poker theme of the game, most people will have some idea before they start ,even though i ve shit luck at poker.
Shouldn’t the cards on The Marshal accuracy be J and Q or Q and K to be consecutive?
Downloading the rules now, and just ordered my poker dice!
As far as premeasure, I don’t like it as a universal rule. But perhaps certain characters (some one like a sharpshooter), or equipment (rifles perhaps) could have a special rule to allow them to premeasure.
Now that’s a neat solution… that’s what we’ll do!
That’s exactly what I was thinking. No pre-measure, unless you have the Sharpshooter special rule, or your character has a piece of special equipment, such as a Ranged Scope. Also, maybe a special rule called “Drawing a Bead” or “Crosshairs,” where if you don’t move, your Accuracy cards can be increased by one, but you can’t move next activation???
I did rev. war reenactments and used live muskets ( not on people or anything living ) and can tell you that range was very easy to figure after a few shots. I would think that for the guys of old west they could tell range rather fast and would know there gun like the back of there hand. Just my view on things but I don’t like premeasure.
Is big man Warren?! Does that mean when I download this Darrel will be the big cheese?
I always wanted to use the lasso on a character. I’d like to see that added sometime.
Finally! I’m looking forward to trying it out. Thanks Andy et al 🙂
Ok…..just checking on this….
In the rules file it says:
Once a player has activated all of their Gunfighters, their turn is over
Once a player’s turn is over, play passes to the next player
But in the video you guys says its an alternating turn structure (You move a model, I move a model)
I prefer the alternating structure, but which are you guys wanting it to playtested as?
Thanks
Jonathan (who is eagerly awaiting his 100 poker dice block to be delivered *grin*)
Yeah… alternating one model each.
I must’ve included an older version of that paragraph in the document. It’ll be fixed for the next release!
Good spot have +5 Karma!
Yes, “Alternate Unit Activation” is the only way to go with proto-modern modern, or sci-fi games, and any skirmish-level games in general. That was what drove me away from 40k, and that’s my biggest gripe with PP.
finally 😉
Poker dice ordered and rules downloaded. I noticed on the read-through that there doesn’t seem to be a section detailing terrain..am I missing something here?
I really like the look of this and can’t wait to give it a try – nice job so far 🙂
There is a section on terrain, but it’s a bit vague. I’ve included some typical terrain types.
However, for the playtest, we mostly went with walls and buildings.
I’ll be putting out a more defined terrain section, probably with a printable sheet with cactus patch on it. However, the next release is being finalised as we speak and that ain’t in it pardners!
i would say pistol range 10″, shotgun (if they get used) range 14″, rifle range 18″. as weapons weren’t really long ranger or accurate back in the wild west. also would be good to see some close combat weapons and some injuns!
