Bashed out a couple of PSC trucks for my 20mm Germans. The ambulance body is a resin cast from the Hobby Den
November 24, 2018 at 9:41 am #1306462I have been working on something a little bit different if late. It’s still a miniatures painting project, although it’s more of a Christmas/Fairy Tale than war/action. I have started a project which gives a bit more information and progress shots but I thought for now I would just post the miniatures here.
I’m actually quite pleased how these turned out, I spent the many hours on the white areas like the dress and frock coat. There’s still a few imperfections in the miniatures, despite being the “premium plastic” from Hero Forge so 3D printing still isn’t quite where it needs to be but they are a little better than the last ones I ordered.
For now they shall remain on their bases because I am in the process of constructing a vignette base for them.

November 26, 2018 at 12:36 pm #1307370Painting the mini that came with Angel Giraldez second book. The colours are a bit off in the picture, but I’ll get better ones later today. Yu Jing Agent Crane, from Infinity.
November 26, 2018 at 1:15 pm #1307381I finished the Sawbones for Gloomhaven last weekend and forgot to take a photo so here he is:
Not the finest models, so just a quick tabletop quality job. This weekend I finished off a bunch of Griffons for 2 different games.
Firstly, the Griffon from Mythic Battles: Pantheon (Project here. )
The Rotterhorn Griffon for Circle Orboros
The Razorwing Griffon for Circle Orboros
And 5 more Scarsfell Griffons, taking me up to 7 which will hopefully be enough.
I also painted my second Gorax Rager for Circle Orboros at the same time as most of the colours were the same.
I picked up a bag of leaf scatter from Serious Play. This was my first time using it. I’m not sold on it yet. I’m considering rolling it out across the whole army. Everything has the same basing as above so far, except without the leaves. I was going for a forest undergrowth. No sun so no grass, just dark earth and stones. Only two elements, and it’s three we should be chasing. What do people think of the leaves?
November 26, 2018 at 8:21 pm #1307555I’ve been AWOL for a while on here but I have my first 4 Albedo minis finished, apart from the bases as I’m considering going with clear ones.
November 26, 2018 at 9:29 pm #1307575One more for the cabin. 🙂
November 26, 2018 at 9:37 pm #1307577I assembled 4 minis tonight and built bases for them. It only took 2.5-3 hours 🙁 I’m much happier with the bases than I feared I might be though. I was expecting to make a real mess of the wood. These minis are the con swag bag exclusive pirates from SmogCon / BonesCon for the past 3 years. Left to right they are a random peg leg pirate, Totally-not-pirate-Eiryss, Honest-I’m-not-Pirate-Reinholdt, and Captain Bones.
The wood planks are unsurprisingly made from coffee stirers clipped down and then filed until I have no finger prints left. I used a broken drill bit to put holes where the nails would be, and spli the odd end. The pieces of metal that strengthen up the “ship” are made from the seal you remove and throw away from around a pot of cream. Turns out the curve on the actual handle part is the exact same angle as the inside lip of one of these 30mm base which worked out very well for the peg leg guy. There are more bolt holes in the iron strips.
A bit of primer on these should make them work and it won’t take much to paint up those bases. I’m thinking Peg Leg’s metal support should be an old bronze/brass, and the rest of the metal should be old iron. Does anyone who knows more about pirates and old ships than me have opinions on this?
November 26, 2018 at 9:52 pm #1307581Yarrr! Shiver me timbers, matey!
Really like the Rum and Bones minis! They remind me so much of the fun I had playing Monkey Island back in the day. Look forward to see how this goes.
I have a bunch metal ones that I got back when they were still produced by Tales of War. Really should get to them sometime too. 🙂
November 27, 2018 at 11:58 am #1307880So over the weekend I got my hands on another cube. Did this one up with magenta and purple. The last picture is it with the first one I painted up. They have been nice to paint up while waiting for other stuff to dry. I think im going to get another. What colors should I do next?
November 27, 2018 at 12:04 pm #1307885@chaosgorka Heres some ideas. Red seems to be a popular choice. if you’re feeling bold, there’s this.
