So, I added some concrete debris to my stormtrooper bases, then coloured the concrete and wahed the red weapons with army painter military shader. I was not really sure about red weapons, but now they are dulled down I quite like it.
Just ahve to deal with the bases now. For most of them, I used vallejo rough grey pumice to get some texture, now I have to colour them. I think a lighter colour would contrast well with the dark scheme. The stormtrooper that arrived with no feet, I have based in vallejo dark earth to give the effect hes sinking into deep mud.
Other than that, I’m pleased with the overall effect of the darker, more contrasty scheme, and other than th emismold, have been impressed with these legion models. I may be tempted to get an AT-ST to paint in this same colourscheme at some point, think it would look great.
August 12, 2018 at 9:08 pm #1251363Hello all
temperatures are settling down a little and I’m getting back in full swing, painting minis. Still have to show the rest of my BRS starter box planes, the ME109s….and here we go
…some (field)camouflaged, some “fresh out of the box”
…zhe whole bunch of huns…
And here’s where I got the inspiration from, a German scale modellers magazine which featured an extensive article on Luftwaffe colors, camo schemes…etc. great reference. And of course the obvious Osprey read.
August 12, 2018 at 11:02 pm #1251393I got asked by a friend to paint some of his 40k minis that he found too tiny to paint without cursing and breaking stuff 😀 I am still very much a beginner at this hobby (painted just like 5 minis so far haha) so thinking it might give me some much needed practice I agreed, here’s my progress 🙂 You can see more of it in the project project I created. Any tips and feedback is greatly appreciated 🙂
August 12, 2018 at 11:17 pm #1251411Wow , lots of folks getting hobby done . Nice looking cop car there tuffyears , like the nitros tanks on the hood . Those grey Stormtroopers are really looking great , noggin , I wasn’t too sure about them last time showed them , but the wash really helped tone them down . I can see the grey armor as a urban camo , much easier to blend into the grunge of city fighting than WHITE ! And great looking swarm of 109s shoop . Did you get swastika decals with the plane kits or did they leave them out to encourage European sales ?
I’ve got some basing done on my kit bashed Polish troops in Berlin 45 . I just used pieces of cobble stone plastic sheet and some old model railroad coal / cinders to cover it to give the impression of a city in ruin . Still need to add some plastruct plastic pieces as clutter
Eventually they will be in a diorama with a IS II , now I have to figure which ruined 4ground buildings I need to line the street
August 13, 2018 at 8:22 am #1251466Updated my project with a couple of Walkers. Making full use of the pdf I found recently, with tin can designs and posters. Also added some humour with a ‘kick me’ sign. Might try ‘nil by mouth’ on a hospital patient walker, or maybe the classic ‘free hugs’.
August 13, 2018 at 11:44 am #1251590I assembled and primed one or two models this weekend. Hopefully the final 2 Wolds will arrive today and I can get them ready to paint this weekend.

August 13, 2018 at 7:09 pm #1251897So my stormtroopers are all complete.
I tinted the textured base with a mix of yellow and brown inks. The idea is to create the impression of urban debris, big chunks of concrete and smaller rubble and dust. As its an alien world you can kind of do what you want, so I picked a colour that worked with the dark armour of the models.
Really happy with how these came out.
As ever, more details on my project on all things airbrushing
August 13, 2018 at 8:25 pm #1251983The last 3 of my Deathwatch are done.
Mayeso, Deathwatch veteran from the Salamanders chapter, marching towards the xenos, burning them as they are in reach and whacking any that still stand with his power maul afterwards.
Nanuq, One of Raven Guard’s veterans to join the Deathwatch. He whips out his stalker pattern boltgun and no scopes any xenos foolish enough to show their face. His lightning claw is charged and ready for any close encounters as well.
Vissation, Deathwatch veteran gunner from the Imperial Fists, slowly emptying his heavy bolter into hordes of xenos that approach.

By now you’ve probably heard the new GW Middle Earth rules are to be released next month and hopefully you’re as excited as me and Ben 😉
If you’re still on the fence then perhaps my latest mini will tempt you… Saruman!
