I finally finished the christmasy November Monster Box from Asset Drop:
Krampus was intermittently a PITA. He has multiple instances of mould shift, putting huge defects through annoying places, most of which I was able to remove. The connection points in the head for the horns have little square holes for the little square pegs on the horns. Except there aren’t any square pegs on the horns. The vents are there and where the pegs should be there were amorphous blobs instead, meaning there was zero guidance in making the horns line up. I did my best using pins, but at some angles I think they still look a little lop sided perhaps? Hopefully I just got a bad cast, but if this is representative of the quality of their production then I would recommend avoiding them, no matter how nice their models look.
Then, once I had him fully painted, fully built, and was half way through applying my second coat of varnish the little bar-steward decided to jump off his holder, fly through the air and roll across my carpet, picking up little bits of fluff in his wet varnish, and breaking through one of his horns! Gah!

December 9, 2019 at 2:34 pm #1463184WIP of PEG’s The Goon Miniatures, after colored primers and washes. No paint, except for the bases. The dwarf in the background only needed a few washes of Purple for his grey-purple suit. The gypsy, meanwhile, was then painted grey, as I was trying the purple wash as something of a shade color. Still needed further painting, of course, but skipped most of the basecoating and blacklining.
PEG actually started a sale last week, and you can get these miniatures at a discount! : https://www.peginc.com/product-category/sale/page/6/
December 9, 2019 at 5:17 pm #1463199Day 20 of my journey into the world of 1938 A Very British Civil War and today it is the turn of the Ablertines and there leader, The Lord Protector, Prince Albert. The Albertines or more correctly know as the Forces of the Lord Protector have landed to been the “Proper and Correct” Monarchy to the land.
The Royal family can see from their base in Canada that this civil war is not good for the country and centuries old wounds have re-opened and like a cancer is destroying this green and pleasant land of Britain. Everything for the breaking up of the Union to a growing Republican movement to the Church of England fighting the King over his failure to abdicate and marry “That Women” was all to much and Prince Albert leads a force with a cadre of Canadian troops to force order back on the land and force his brother to give up the throne.
With this in mind Prince Albert has opted for the title of Lord Protector rather than King so it does not seem like a civil war within a civil war where family fights family and brother fights brother, but the reality is just that. He is also aiming to build bridges between the other faction and try and reconcile the differences between them but it all might be a little to little and a little to late for some.
December 9, 2019 at 8:34 pm #1463208Gaslands most dangerous Citroen C5…. and its sidekick.. 🙂

December 9, 2019 at 10:04 pm #1463222@janus1004 really everyday cars adapted for post-apoc are right up my street. Nice one!
December 9, 2019 at 10:06 pm #1463224I could carry on but I think it is done.
December 10, 2019 at 3:04 am #1463232@panzerkaput – more great graphics. I especially like the backstory. Nice touch where Windsor is packin’ the ole’ C96 Mauser Broomhandle – is that some subtle subtext as Edward VIII / Windsor’s less-than-savory political affiliations or just a creative choice? Hey, if it was good enough for Han Solo, after all …
@ced1106 – Great job on the completed Christmas mimic. Between you and @lawnor ‘s Christmas monsters – you guys should stage the annual “Assault on the North Pole” Christmas wargame this year! 😀 And I love the new PEG “The Goon” figures as well, especially the gypsy and the lady in red!
@blipvertus – great job on the Ork flight squadron. I like how all of them are purple and one is suspiciously red. Is he “Ork-Dude von Richthofen” by chance? 😀 😀 😀
The Krampus monster is awesome @lawnor – and the house is great too! Looks like “Santa” decided to say “f*** yo’ chimney, I’m comin’ down straight through the roof!” 😀 On a serious note, damaged and ruined buildings are always 20 times harder than intact ones, I find.
@chaosgorka – I love the blades and the highlight / glow effect! I don’t do40K but in my Battletech, “brick-red” and gold is one of my favorite color schemes.
@janus1004 – Epic Gasland cars! Those look like .50s on the roof … well, until you get to the Rising Sun car and that minigun! The rear gunner is well painted and great job on the dirt kicked up along the back of the car.
Holy hell, @laughingboy , where did you get photos of my highschool girlfriend? *sigh* The years have not been kind, have they? 😮 😮 😮
December 10, 2019 at 4:26 am #1463244@oriskany the black Dakkajet is Da Black Barun and his Vulture. The red Fighta Bommer is the Big Burna flown by Sky Boss Toofkrakker. Both are named units in the Rynn World Air War campaign book.
Tonight I finished up some Earth Elementals from Deep Cut for my Saga: Age of Magic dwarf army. Dwarven Wizard for scale.
December 10, 2019 at 5:39 am #1463268@blipvertus – Da Black Barun! I was close! 😀
Meanwhile … inspired and emboldened by @panzerkaput ‘s artwork on his VBCW entries, I’ll toss up the US Army and Taliban “virtual miniatures” @stvitusdancern and I used recently in our online playtest of Contact Front by Gods Eye Games.
December 10, 2019 at 11:35 am #1463358@oriskany Thank you. I am also a fan of the red/gold color scheme. Its one of my favorites to paint.
Continuing on with the blood angels. Some finished centurions. This is group 1 out of 3.
December 10, 2019 at 5:56 pm #1463389Day 21 of my journey around the world of 1938 A Very British Civil War and today it is the turn of the Scottish Republic and its leader. Admiral Douglas-Buccleah was a veteran of the Battle of Jutland in the Great War and despite his senior years, he has proved to be an able warrior for the Scottish Republic, leading her forces and organising her defends.
As leader of the Nation Unity Party, leads an assembly of various parties as it is the largest party in the Scottish Assemble, but it needs partnerships to maintain a working majority. His exploits early in 1938 in the Severn Valery and the long march through Wales to the coast had become legend for the nation. As leader of the ruling coalition Douglas-Buccleah became Admiral, First Consul to the Scottish Republic, a title chosen over Prime Minister or First Minister leading his opponents to christen him the Scottish Napoleon.
@oriskany it is a creative choice and I love the C96s look. I love those standees you have done.
December 11, 2019 at 8:12 am #1463493Day 22 of my journey around the world of 1938 A Very British Civil War and today I am going to do an honourable mention to the unforgotten heroes, the ones who are not fighting for cause, ideal or for a better Britain, these are the defenders of their homes, towns and villages, these are the Local Defence Force.
Not everyone is signed up to one faction or other as most people are more interested in there local area and how the war is going to effect them. To this end most areas, especially rural and suburban areas, the people have banded together, putting aside differences and armed themselves with the sole aim of protecting their land and property. These are the backbone of many of the people in Britain, not fighting for cause but fighting for everyone.
