And here is my my first finished Judge!!!
Not JD himself. Can’t wait to have the game!!!December 1, 2019 at 11:42 pm #1461547Day 14 of my journey into 1938 A Very British Civil War and it is back to the Scottish republic. Shortly after the start of the civil war and the Scottish Government declared itself as a Republic, it took to raising forces to protect itself for the English Royalist/Government forces respond. This did come at the battle of Berwick in which the English were force down and defeated.
The Scottish Republic started to organise and uniform its militia forces using the Covenanter’s of the English Civil War are reference and dress them in Hodden Grey, the traditional colour of the Scottish forces. This chap is a member of one of the highland militias raised and as a such the Republic has reintroduced the Covenanter Tartan for its Government Militias.

December 3, 2019 at 9:12 am #1461791I painted up my first Gaslands car. The scale is a little odd. 40k guns are a bit too big and FoW stuff looks a little dainty or is full tank turrents. If I were to do a few more cars I’d see about picking up some parts designed for this scale.
December 3, 2019 at 5:16 pm #1461956First off, thanks so much everyone for the re-welcome back into the WAYPN thread. 😀
@144artist – great warehouses and I love the Scylla figure. I’m serious, I think I’m in love. 😛
@blipvertus – A great squad of dwarves. I’m not an expert in fantasy but you usually don’t think of dwarves as archer troops. Logically, it would be a vital fit into a force dominated by traditional “heavy infantry” like axes and hammers.
@eternitygate – epic Sister of Battle. I like how the white hair contrasts against the dark armor. And the detail on the base is amazing.
@thelynxdefect – great idea to paint on the sprue. I’ve only done that once, some helos that had clear plastic canopies I couldn’t airbrush once assembled. Do you find it saves time delivers / better results?
@panzerkaput – More great additions to the VBCW graphics portfolio. I really like how this expands “hobby” besides just miniatures.
@jayadan – such a “humble” piece of terrain but done so well. I just took out the trash here at home the dry brushing on that plastic dumpster lid looks EXACTLY like our dumpster. I also like the grafitti at lower right. Great touch.
@darkdanegan – the detail on that Servitor (?) is amazing. I also like the electric blue glow, great contrast.
@piers – I’m running out of adjectives for your work, sir. 😀 More great stuff! I always like the bases on your WW2 minis.
@marsniper27 – I love the bright blue grav tanks (?). The color scheme reminds me of some of what you might see in BattleTech. So are those heavy, medium, and light vehicles?
@andre77 – great desert terrain. Looks like it could be used for a whole range of arid climate settings. 😀
December 3, 2019 at 5:30 pm #1461959Replies for p. 176:
@jamjarst – Great results so far. We were talking about GW contrast paints on our last podcast. I hear they are very good for quick results on infantry figures, not so much on vehicles?
@darkvernon – Great pose and high-contrast paint on the Judge. I don’t remember the green. Is this a different unit / rank of judge, or just a creative choice, or am I just not remembering it right?
@panzerkaput – where are his bagpipes? Just kidding. 😀 As long as half his face isn’t painted blue, I’m happy. 😐
@ced1106 – Epic evil Christmas tree! 😀
@piers – Epic void pirate and team. So in the far future, I guess they still use old-school “pineapple” grenades / Mills bombs? 😀
@sundancer – great stormtrooper / dewback scout. “Look sir! Droids!” 😀
@blipvertus – amazing work on those orc aircraft. I like the little explosion icon on the bomb (just in case the ground crew forget what they are?) and the bases. Are those base markings just decorative or do they serve a game function (arcs, maneuver, etc)?
@lawnor – epic weathering on those cars. I wish I could say I never drove a car like that at 1:1 scale. 🙁 Minus the weapons and blades, of course. My girlfriend @gladesrunner and I used to do this kind of thing, old Matchboxes, etc. made into post-apocalypse models. We gotta get back into that. Great work!
December 3, 2019 at 6:17 pm #1461999Thanks @oriskany hoping to post update 2 to the project blog tomorrow just waiting for my resin bases to come through for the whole army! Yay!
December 3, 2019 at 7:19 pm #1462018Thanks @oriskany they turned out decent for just picking at them when ever I had a minute. The edge high lighting doesn’t really show up well in the pictures but that also means the mess I made while edge high lighting is hidden too :p . Colour scheme is based of the minis on the box.
They are light, medium and heavy tanks. They all have the hover key word so grav tank fits. Haven’t read any fluff on the firestorm universe yet. I also still have the infantry to paint up.

December 3, 2019 at 10:28 pm #1462060@oriskany one of the main reasons I chose Oathmark for my Dwarf army is because of the archer figures. That and everyone wears chainmail.
The bases for the Ork aircraft have several game functions. Mostly facing for the bases proper but there are dials for speed and altitude.
If you scrounge up an old Ork codex there’s actually an explanation of all the symbols and yeah, that’s the symbol for explosions. Also, yellow is supposed to make things more explosive so that’s why the bombs are yellow.
And purple is the color of stealth …
December 3, 2019 at 11:36 pm #1462061USMC vehicles are more or less done here. As previously detailed, new ERA panels were fabricated and put on the M-60A1s. Also added missing taillight cowlings for the LAV-25s, and radio antennae to all vehicles. Added the AAV-7P amphibious assault vehicles, although admittedly on those the scale is a little off (they should be larger).
Meanwhile, also started my infantry in a big way. Painting is mostly done, with an approximation of US 1991 DBDU Six-Color Desert (“chocolate chip”) camo pattern (approximation, these are 15mm minis after all). I’m also not 100% sure on the inclusion of the Dragon ATGW for a 1991 USMC force (I was trained on the AT-4) … so I’ll have to check on that. This kit was originally US Infantry Platoon for Battlefront’s Team Yankee.
Next steps include a last pin-wash on equipment, perhaps a dry brush on the weapons (light grey / interferon blue), and of course figuring out what I want to do with the bases.
M-60A1 MBTs (with ERA panels), HMMWVs with M2HB HMGs, Mk19 AGLs, TOW-II ATGW), LAV-25s with 25mm autocannon, ITV TOW-II ATGW boom, and mortar.
Antennae added to all vehicles.
AAV-7P “amtracks” in the back.
Just the LAV-25s – drybrushing added, especially around tires, two antennae added per vehicle on the 25mm turrets, one for the ITV and mortar).
HMMWVs – again new drybrushing and antennae.
Infantry … 80% done?
55 figures in all – Battlefront US Infantry Platoon Team Yankee set. Metal 15mm.
A little dark washing remains, dry brush on the weapons, and of course the basing.
