November 23, 2019 at 8:36 am #1459225Day Seven of the world of 1938 A Very British Civil War and today I bring you one of the smaller, lesser know factions. With King Edward VIII failing to do the “Right and Proper” thing in some peoples eyes and the inviting of Moseley as the Prime Minister this led to a number of militias or Local Defence Forces being raised to after the interest of there local communities. Some of these where based on political, or religious, or other altruistic principles and standing for or against the King and/or the Government.
This young lady is one of those very brave fellows for has made a stand against Moseley’s Government in fighting for Somerset Freedom Fighters. These lads are typical of the adage “from small acorns, mighty oaks will grow”, as fighting against the rule of the British Union of Fascists in Somerset these guys as become a thorn in the side of local disobedience, tying up a large force to help bring these rebels down.
This lady is a local operation office for the Somerset Freedom Fighters passing on information about what the Government forces are doing. Note the camera in the bag.

And was able to start my month of quality terrain. Because we will do a Gorkamorka paint and gaming campaign in next year, i started on scatter terrain and this junk yard (from micro art studio):
They should be usable for any other post apokalyptic table too.
November 24, 2019 at 2:03 pm #1459441This model had been sitting in my collection for years. I started painting it for Orktober and finished it earlier this month. Many challenges were conquered in the process; painting bright yellow, painting a glow effect, painting freehand markings and working with sub-assemblies. Most challenging was getting all parts to stick together. This is the old, metal version of this mini. It’s so heavy you ideally need four hands to hold it together while the glue dries.
November 24, 2019 at 2:53 pm #1459471Day Eight of the journey into the World of 1938 A Very British Civil War and we are back to the Royalist forces again and the another regiment. At the outbreak of the war the Yeomanry regiments seeing themselves as the cream of the battlefield and rekindle the glory days of the cavalry and their dashing looks and image they have.
So on the Royalist sides mainly, but other factions too, the local and country yeomanry regiments they through away the camouflage, khaki uniform and stated to Dress Uniforms instead to mark them out, in their minds, of their elite elan. Not always the best idea in the age of modern warfare.
This fellow is an Captain from Warwickshire Yeomanry in his “Dress/Battledress” uniform. This bravo has led to them charging into combat at the first instance as their preferred method of operation which does attract the wilder, less sensible person to them and the predicable results.

November 25, 2019 at 7:06 pm #1459857Day Nine into the world of 1938, A Very British Civil War and today is the turn of the People’s Armies and in particular the Clarion Cycle Club. A club that believed in bringing forward socialism via active and healthy pursuits and come the outbreak of the civil war many of these clubs become the fast reconnaissance units for the various Peoples Armies and People’s Assault Columns of the Left Wing. Typically eccentric and very British, these unique units performed a vital role for the left.
