Ravenwing bikers done, finally. These three should have been way easier than they were, but trust me to find the hard way to do something.
One thing I want to call attention to is the robe of the Sergeant. For all the guys in the DV box set with robes I gave them a basecoat of Rhinox Hide, then a layer of Rhinox Hide mixed with Mephiston Red, then did some small highlights of simply Mephiston Red.
Been testing out warcolours paints. After initial frustration I have finally figured out how to use them (with the aid of Vince ventruella’s youtube vids).
Tested doing a blend with their reds over a zenithal of brown, ochre and bone.
not bad for a first attempt. Need to push highlights and shadows more, but I’ve got the feel for how they work.
Also, wip of a Brute Corruptor for Darklands (also popped him in my darklands project.)
Mostly just base colours down, but the revolting fleshy projectile is all done!
Hmm seems first image didn’t work. Here it is!
I finished painting my Well of Orboros. I’ve never painted water before and was making it up as I went along. Not too bad, although the top pool could have been better.
I also finished 2 Gallows Groves,…
…and Tityos for Mythic Battles: Pantheon
I’ve started work on my Behemoth of Decay. The metal, rust, and the flaking paint over it is finished. Next up is to see if I can mask all of that to spray the rest of it.
Odd. They don’t look much like the actors. I see no iconography. No tech specific to them. And yet I know exactly who they are.
@lawnor I guess, you’ve just described what Kev’s genius is all about. He is brilliant in capturing the essence of the character or emotion in very simple forms. That being said those four are not his best works, I was discouraged by their dubious proportions (and had them in painting freezer for at least two years since I put base colours on). Kev usually makes hands and feet overly pronounced but with those he also messed heads. Carter has her head way too big (like some cartoon toddler) while T’ealc got his forehead from some Neanderthal, completely flat. In the end, however, character and sentiment trump wonky anatomy for me.
The heroes and Hera from the Hera expansion of Mythic Battles: Pantheon are about half done. Full project here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1318411
Copy paste with relatively useful info
Here’s the detailed view of the base for my Orktober figure. So far so good. I’ve just tested out the Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color on the area between boards on the base after glosscoat sealing it and I report to you that it is alot thinner than the GW shade washes. Nuln Oil has a higher surface tension and pools in recesses more than this stuff leaving the ever irritating tide mark of shades area. The panel liner wicks quickly into recesses and flows readily, if you put on enough, from one channel to the next. It is petroleum based as you can smell the product readily after putting it on. If you want to remove the excess use mineral spirits (white spirits for you Euro type persons; A/NZ no idea what you call it). I plan on using it after sealing the figure once I’m done detailing as the details are intricate. I believe that this will become a staple of my materials as it not only works well for fine detailing but there’s a metric butt ton in the bottle that will last for some time.
More paint job refreshers.
Panther
Stug
And a Hero Quest mini.
Enjoyed painting the base and the mini brings back lots of happy memories. Sadly he was primed badly and the thick paint lost me some of the detail.
Objective markers. And a thirsty dwarf.
Surprisingly I managed to do some painting on weekday. This is test colour for 4 men (actually 2 women and 2 men) posy of Statuesque’s Deck Crew.
Working my way through a Warlord Games sprue of British Infantry.
Thanks @suetoniuspaullinus for the cannon ball basing idea.
