Completed some archers for B&P. They will hopefully support my poor Spanish, painted starting with contrast paints. I have tried mixing them a bit now and that can give interesting new tones.

Hope you like 🙂
September 29, 2019 at 6:31 pm #1441988The troops and monsters from the Hera expansion for Mythic Battles: Pantheon. Full project here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1318411
September 29, 2019 at 6:52 pm #1441996September 30, 2019 at 12:26 am #1442116Finished two more models for my Ecclesiarchy Kill Team and eventually an army.
I now have to wait for the release of the SoB boxset in November. I plan to get some 40k cherubs and more Servitor Skulls as I want to recreate some of the art that first inspired me.
and this.
In the meantime I have returned to my SLA Industries project (will be re-opening that project when these are finished). I am painting up all the pre-general characters from the quickstart rules. I then have the protagonists to paint. I also need to finish my Shivers and Carrien so I can play CS1 game. I have been distracted and not getting much painting done recently but am determined to re focus.
I have converted a few of these to represent “Blistering Rain” the Ops team in the QS rules, only the two models at either end are as bought.
September 30, 2019 at 10:53 am #1442259I started work on my Tharn Army box for Circle Orboros, Hordes, during my week off, got them half a day away from completion, and then had to go back to work and didn’t get time to touch them for 2 weeks. Its been bugging me ever since. Finally got them done on Saturday and here they are
Tharn Bloodweavers
Brigid and Caul
Tharn Ravager Chieftain
Bloodweaver Haruspex
Tharn Ravagers
And my third War Wolf, painted at the same time because fur is all washes with long drying times, and drybrushing so it’s good to work on something else at the same time.
September 30, 2019 at 11:01 am #1442264Finally managed to string some painting time together uninterrupted so I managed to get these Flank Company skirmishers finished for Sharp Practice.
Really pleased with them, they’re the Front Rank reinforcement pack BNRPK21
Only three groups of line to go until the starter list is ready, then I’ve got rifles, more skirmishers and artillery crews to go.
September 30, 2019 at 9:02 pm #1442492@janus1004 Looks like some nice paint jobs on your reinforcements.
@blipvertus The unit came out quite well. I’m enjoying following the progress on your blog.
@thebucklandbrewer Wonderful blends on your skin tones. Very nice piece.
@danlee hard to believe those are pieces for a board game. Great work on them. Are you thinking about basing them?
@boomer Wow! that patina is gorgeous. Very nice detail work.
@elysium64 such inspiration reference material. I think you have really captured the grim, dirty feel of the 40K universe.
@lawnor the break paid off, those came out wonderfully.
@mellet68 can’t go wrong with Sharpe’s Practice. Nice looking unit you have there. Going to paint the King’s Chosen next? I always loved their green uniforms.
I finished one of my mounted Berserker Lords for my dwarfs in Kings of War. I’ve got a second one waiting for primer but I’m calling this guy finished (except some flocking on the base). Looks like it could be time for me to start a Kings of War Project Blog.
October 1, 2019 at 1:53 am #1442524A few years ago, maybe over half a decade, I got the WH40K Dark Vengeance box. I didn’t know what I wanted to paint the armies, I just knew I wasn’t going to do the ‘official’ colours. Painting the Chaos force turned out to be easy, Purple armour, gold trim, and green shoulder pads and guns. But the Dark Angels, oh my poor sweet Dark Angels…
First I painted them in red armour with blue, to contrast with the colours my the Chaos Marines, but they looked more like Blood Angels. Then I tried to paint them all in bone, like the Deathwing. God oh god, that was a horrible, horrible mistake. There are no photos of that dark time and with good reason. I hated the job so much I damaged my sergeant trying to strip him (didn’t know about methylated spirits yet). Finally, I just gave up and covered them all dark blue and yellow. I didn’t like it, but I didn’t hate it either. I just called them done and dumped them in the box and forgot about them.
Then a few days ago I saw this Silver Skulls video. And it reminded me of a successor chapter in the DA book that looked similar. Now a smart man would have reminded himself that he was still finishing the Stormcast from the Soul Wars set, and hasn’t even started on the Nighthaunts from that set, and still hasn’t finished the Kharadron guy with the top hat or the one group of gunstock haulers. A smart man would have remembered the last thing he needs to do is try to repaint a force already made obsolete by the Primaris filth.
Anyways here’s a test of my new DA scheme. The blue guy is what the force is mostly painted, the silver guy is a test model I did before supper, without any real highlights.
October 1, 2019 at 3:48 am #1442543Sorry for spamming the thread, but here’s the angel I posted in the previous page (and the top of this page),
Originally I was going to keep him black and highlight the skin in blue, like the wings and the skirt. But I kind of need to practice painting skin, so I changed my plans.
