May 7, 2019 at 11:59 pm #1387859Hey everyone 🙂
not posted for a while so I thought I’d show a couple of pics of what I’ve been up to.
firstly I’ve painted up an Alpha Legion chaos terminator to see if I could find a quick and simple way to paint the metallic armour. I actually found a paint you can buy which is the exact colour!
May 8, 2019 at 12:01 am #1387860I’ve been also painted this for a competition piece. Didn’t all go how I wanted but was a fun mini to paint
May 8, 2019 at 6:12 am #1387876Finished up another unit for my Mortal Gods lochos.
And here is the entire lochos to date. Only two more minis to go!

May 10, 2019 at 2:11 am #1388591So I decided to pull out my Big Blue GW miniatures storage box.
Within its confines was a 40K army I began back in 2008. Imperial Guard (now Astra Militarum) using Cadian models initially in a terra-cotta color. Most of them were battle tested in 40k but they really have languished for 10 years in Miniature Void. In that time I attempted re-prime and Paint in a desert theme but never finished. But as Winston said, “Never Give Up!!”
Progress has been made!!
Colors on the IG minis:
Army Painter Rattle Can Desert Yellow. Citadel Bestial Brown for helmets and boots. Touch up of uniforms with Citadel Tallarn Sand. Body Armor with Citadel Iyanden Darksun. All with a wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade. Citadel Bugmans Glow(Base), Reikland Fleshshade (Wash) and Reaper Tanned Skin (layer) for faces hands. Most of the utility belts, pouches, canteens was Reaper Leather Brown with an Agrax Earthshade wash. Metal parts were either Reaper Blade Metal or Vallejo Gunmetal Grey with Citadel Nuln Oil wash. I like a more muted like of the Wash and don’t often add highlight layers.
The Ratlings were a fun paint and I was able to touch up all the commissars, the Arron Leader and the Inquisitor who is the leader of this merry band of IG. I have several Special Weapons squads – Plasmas, Multi Melta, Grenade Launchers and Flamers which give me some flexibility. Next up is finishing the Heavy Weapons Teams. They are mostly based coated with a few parts needed (accessories and arm or two!)
Once these are done I’ll work on making standard troops and another command squad
May 10, 2019 at 2:20 am #1388594Though I may take a break from the Desert and work on some Giants. In this case the Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures Stone Giant next to Reaper Bones Stone Giant (with Warhammer 40,000 Astra Militarum Cadian Soldier for Scale, aka Private Fourscale)
May 10, 2019 at 12:08 pm #1388731Finished up a small commission of mounted models from wizkids.

May 12, 2019 at 8:38 am #1389493The predominantly red monsters for Mythic Battles: Pantheon are finished. Full project entry here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1318411/
May 12, 2019 at 5:15 pm #1389587So, in my journey back to painting again, I had a box of hellblasters lying around so made a squad of five with some blood angels shoulder pads.
Prime with Vallejo red surface primer, then add zenethal highlights with yellow, and shade with purple.
The a gloss varnish, and heavily thinned red wash to give me this.
The high contrast stays but you still get a nice bright red.
May 12, 2019 at 10:31 pm #1389779Simple and quick buildings for Batman Minis Game, from Wargames Tournaments. I filled in the laser cut windows with card. Painted it to look like night time illumination. Still need to weather the buildings, and add final details, but it has the right look.

May 13, 2019 at 7:28 am #1389928May 13, 2019 at 10:41 am #1390058I finished the old school Bloodthirster (Anyone know when this guy came in and went out of print?) for my Spring Cleaning Project and started work on the Soul Grinder. Both had parts snapped off and missing, but I cast replacement parts using a reusable moulding agent and green stuff. I know on close inspection they are far from perfect, but would you notice if I hadn’t told you?
