Been working on some science fiction vehicles for Kore’s upcoming kickstarter. I decided to photograph them with some Battle Systems Terrain and some of my cyberpunk miniatures.

April 23, 2019 at 10:19 am #1381171Having a game of Guildball today, so I’ve spent the last couple of days trying to get a fully painted team.

Hopefully in the next day or so I’ll post a few of the progress shots and fingers crossed a final, in my Imperial Assault project

April 24, 2019 at 10:59 am #1381701Hello all,
It has been too long since I posted any of my hobby on the site. Truth be told I have spent the last few months decorating the hobby room so things have been a little upside down.
So on to some pics of what I have been up to.
Starting with my Shrew – zerker and Kingfisher for Burrows and Badgers.
A few WIP pics of the Kingfisher there and I still have the base to do for the Shrew.
These models were so enjoyable to paint partly because they were a bit out of the norm for me, a few colors I never use in there. I can honestly say they are the fist Shrew and Kingfisher models I have ever painted.
The Shrew I just wanted to look Barbaric, hence all the blood and evil red eye.
The Kingfisher, I spent a bit more time on with a few pics of kingfishers in front of me. The colors on these birds are amazing and I struggled to get the real vibrant electric blue of the outside of the wings (see below)
I used a bit of Artistic licence on the eyes of each model trying to make them more Human like than animal, Maybe suggesting more intelligence in my opinion.
Currently on the painting table is “The Last Viking” one of the Giants in Miniature series of minis.
I plan on using this guy as a Hero for my Barbarians in Warlord of Erehwon.
WIP and still stuck to my painting aid (brown earth paint tub) at the moment.
Hopefully I should finish this chap before the weekend, I look forward to sharing the pics of the finished job.
April 24, 2019 at 4:15 pm #1381899A freebie from my last order from Foundry: an Askari bugler. Not part of any project nor destined to be, but very nice all the same. Great to paint something different.
April 24, 2019 at 9:34 pm #1382083Another one of those “no actual hobby to share” weeks so far.
But I did fudge about with parallaxing to fake 3D-ise mini photos, and other stuff. It’s not the best method, but I might use something similar for future showcases… This does give you a feeling of depth without much work however, so worth a shot if you’re interested. (you create a greyscale depth map to mark out your scene depth and there’s various tools online to combine the image and depth map – if you’re wanting better quality, I’d bring it all into After Effects or Blender or something, or simply take several photos from slightly different angles and stitch them together. These were very quickly done simply to muck about with the technique)

April 27, 2019 at 6:02 pm #1383281April 27, 2019 at 7:33 pm #1383292It was a bit of a slog, but I finally finished (minus a gloss coat -maybe) the Kill Team Death World Forest.
Above is Grapple-weed
Above Barbed Venomgorse, there are 3 types shown here but act the same in game.
Barbed Venomgorse
Barbed Venomgorse intertwined with an Eldar (now Alderai) ruin
More Barbed Venomgorse
Another Barbed Venomgorse and another Eldar (Alderaan)ruin
Shardwrack Spines
This is all of it with 3 pieces from the Kill Team Deathwatch box set. I used various Citadel and Reaper paints on it with Citadel washes, inks and dry brush paints.
for the most part I kept with the colors presented on the box art and booklet. I had done the Barbed Venomgorse before so went with the same colors for the most part. The Ruins were(IIRC) Reaper Cloudy Grey with a Nuln Oil wash and then a drybrush of Citadel Dawnstone.
The Grappleweed stumped me for a while but I ended up going for a fleshly look on the flower. On the outside Using Citadel Screamer Pink, a wash of Magenta Ink (Citadel) and a dry brush of Changling Pink (Citadel), the inside was Bugman’s Glow (Citadel) and Reikland Fleshshade (Citadel)wash with spikes being Gore Red (Citadel) the whole thing was primered in Deathguard green and I used Brown Ink (Citadel) for the Trunk and Reaper Pure Black for the spines with a Nuln Oil coat over the spines.
I experimented with rattle cans on the Shardwrack Spine. Spray painting green first then an overspray of red. I like how it came out. Just added a wash of Athonian Camoshade on the green base. That’s when I noticed the skulls so did those up in Reaper Aged Bone and wash of Nuln Oil. I was about done but felt like Something was missing. Found some Citadel Dry brush paint Lucius Lilac that I used for the boils.
It took longer than I anticipated, but glad it’s done. Next up is Sly Marbo. My FLGS had one on the Shelf and I figure with Kill Team Elites coming out he might make an appearance besides he’ll go well in the DeathWorld Forrest scene.
