Snipers for Spectre Operations
March 23, 2019 at 12:15 am #1365213I have been having a go with my airbrush. This is only my second airbrush attempt.
The model is from Kore and is an early prototype from an upcoming kickstarer. How have I got my hands on one of these? Well, apparently I impressed Kore with my work painting up some 32mm scaled street cars and I was asked to paint some vehicles for their webstore and to take to shows. Before anyone asks, I wasn’t paid, I did it simply because I enjoyed painting them. And also to get early access to the sci-fi cars lol. This particular specimin is known as the Manta. It was painted using a metallic red airbrush paint and a simple gloss varnish to give it the same glossy sheen that most modern cars have. No washes. No shading or highlighting. I basically let the gloss varnish do the work. The reason I take this approach, and did so with the modern street vehicles, is because they’re scenery pieces. They’re not the centre of attention, they just need to look believable from about 3′ away.

March 24, 2019 at 3:32 am #1365677The base 10 chaos marines are finished. Now to move on to the more interesting things from the chaos half of shadow spear.
March 24, 2019 at 6:03 pm #1366011I think I’m putting my Flames of Wars Airborne company on hold for the moment. I’m happy to finally have them all primed and assembled. That alone was an accomplishment. I’ve adjusted Fire and finished up a couple of miniatures
The Griffin, from Reaper was interesting. Minimal work in terms of gluing the wings and base, which was an old one I had lying around. It had a hole in it but the model covered it up. But instead of a black, grey or white prime, I use Rust-oleum Bright Coat Metalic Finish Gold.
I wanted to create a “Golden Griffin” but try a reverse paint of sorts. Leaving bits of gold showing as I guess an undercoat, rather than highlighted or drybrushed on. Pulled out the old grass/flock and added it as my usual rocky grey didn’t provide enough contrast.
I picked up the Nolzur’s Griffon for comparison and Reaper Bones version is bigger but both could be used with riders
Spirit of the Forest was a fun paint, using Citadel Stirland Mud texture paint and flock/grass. I used mutated colors like Citadel Red Gote for the berries and very light Ryza Rust.
Working on a bit of terrain assembly- Kill Team Death World Forest. Almost done just a few more spruce then I’ll start painting.

March 25, 2019 at 10:33 am #1366327March 25, 2019 at 1:18 pm #1366397I’m also working on a rather large scenery build, although I can’t find a forum called “what are you building now” in which to post it (Mind you, I am currently in the painting stage so totally counts right?).
It’s something I have been working on for so long I Decided to do a project to track the build. Currently I am waiting for some PVA glue to dry so I can start doing some nice water effects. However I am having massive difficulty getting it to dry – currently been waiting over 24 hours and 9 of those it was directly under a heat fan.
It’s been a bit of a marathon working on this but I am really please with the way it is now coming together – it should be a nice Necromunda, Kill Team or even perhaps Infinity table all on its own. I think the multi-level nature of it will really add a new dimension to games like Kill Team or Infinity.
