As part of Snag a Normie, I’ve managed to convince my 12 year old niece, CoCo (Yifan), to step across to the dark side and start war-gaming. So I got her started by painting some Space Marines, and these are the first models she’s painted. They’re not quite finished yet, but I thought I’d put up her WIP’s as they’re looking pretty good so far.

She has decided to create her own chapter called The Unicorns, and she plans to write up a back story for them. I’ll warn you now they are VERY PINK lol….and they will have Unicorns painted on the shoulder pads eventually, and maybe rainbows…..

We also plan to start Burrows and Badgers as this is the game she’s really interested in playing, but we both felt that painting Space Marines first would be easier before tackling some of the B&B minis.

Nice job on getting your niece interested – 12 is a great age to get normies into the hobby. The Unicorns sound like a noble but formidable chapter! Burrows and Badgers models are also great for her once she gains in confidence a bit. I find them very pleasing to paint with, as @brennon said in the XLBS this weekend, big areas that are easy to make look good like fur.

She is planning an Asian themed Burrows and Badgers warband, and pinched my Bushido Panda as her  leader lol.. We’re thinking of using the stats for badgers for the panda.

    The struggle is real…

P38 Lighting Flames of War.   Primed with Army Painter Green, Based with  Army Painter Matt Black, Reaper Olive Green, Reaper Honed Steel, Reaper Pale Saffron, Washed in Citadel Yellow Ink, Nuln Oil Shade and Athonian Camoshade

Rough job (to say the least) on the wing “fix”  but was just gonna go with it.  Had a narrative of 100mph tape/ductape, rough welding, a shot up survivor story.

    And then I dropped it…

A friend of mine got Blackstone Fortress for Christmas and a group of us decided to each paint up a few parts of it. I took the Spindle Drones and the Kroot character. Here’re the results. For the bases I kept them very simple since several of us are painting this set up. If my friend wishes to change them he can just paint them over.2019-02-19-BSF-Infinity-1

@warhammergrimace Your niece has done a cracking job on those marines! Those Burrows and Badgers figures are very characterful. I love the green cloak on the rabbit archer.

@chaosgorka Superb work as ever sir. I don’t see many paintjobs where someone’s attempted to paint all parts of the eye.

@andre77 Great looking Titans. Are they affiliated to the World Eaters?

@geezeruk Very fine work. Nice to see a more yellow tone to the pustules.

@themetal1 All praise Krazy Glue indeed!

Giving myself an evening to finish a model (max), to speed me up a bit. This is about 3-4 hours work.

@seldon9: Sadly not. Affiliated with the World Eater is Legio Audax “Ember Wolves”. Another peculiarity of the Legio Audax is it’s complement that consisted solely of Warhound Titan-variants. The House Makabius is affiliated with the Legio Fureans which consists of more different designs and which decals are included in the standard decals sheet. 😉

@seldon9 Coco says thanks, she’s quite happy with the result.

I don’t actually know what I’m painting now – aka, I’ve a whole bunch of projects and I’ve not settled on one yet!

On my desk I’ve a Zealot Minotaur just needing some green stuff, some Skaven heroes, a bunch of Sisters of Battle, some Primaris Marines for the Death Strike, a Noise Marine and some terrain…

I’ve pretty much settled on the SOB scheme (my previous scheme from 3rd/4th edition was almost identical to the blue of the Death Strike Marines, which made sense at the time cos my Astartes at that point were Red), but not sure if I should do them on 25 or 32mm bases… Hmm.
    Thoughts?
