@torros great looking stuff at 10mm – you have convinced me to give the scale a go 🙂
Hobby progress has been jumping about between projects but I have managed to finish something – 4 foot of barbican by printable scenery. Pretty happy with the results as a speedpaint given all the stone was done using cheap poster paints and brushes. 28mm reaper mini for scale…
And the mandatory shot from behind…
Now to track down a decent set of siege rules…

Some are straight from the NorthStar female soldiers Frostgrave box and some are bashed from the NorthStar soldiers sprue and barbarian sprue.
February 16, 2019 at 8:22 am #1349708Just finished a board for X-wing 2.0. Bought the game for my oldest at Xmas as a gateway game. He is a huge Star Wars fan but a bit meh about wargaming. So far he hasn’t noticed he is enjoying it immensely…..
My painting is not up to the standard of you guys but thought I would share anyway

February 16, 2019 at 5:39 pm #1349864Current projects:
“Treant” from Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures. Citadel Mournfang Brown bade, with a wash of Agrax Earth-shade and Reaper Turf Green with a shade of Citadel Athonian Camoshade
I like the look of it as is and part of me wants to stop right at this stage. But the other part wants to do more so I’m pondering some drybrush and highlights and need to consider the eyes and mushrooms.
While I’m waiting and pondering, I searched around my miniature collection and came across some Flames of War stuff. Years ago I picked up an Airborne Infantry Company but only completed a platoon the rest remained in my carry case organized but unassembled and unpainted. Here is completed platoon with some closeups.
My skills I am hoping will have improved on 15mm. And am looking forward to finishing the company. Standard practice for me now is washing the miniatures in warm soapy water with a toothbrush to get rid of any releasing agent or other stuff on the miniatures whether it’s plastic, metal or resin. Here is the rest of the company – 2 airborne platoons and the start of the company HQ.
This last photo is the remaining parts of the company that need to be glued – 3 Company Sniper teams, a paracart, beacon, and Lt Turnball. The Aircraft got broke at some point and the wing is missing. I’m attempting a repair with plasticard and green stuff.
February 16, 2019 at 8:47 pm #13498783 bases done of the Pendraken barbarians. I over did the wash on some but there done and out of the way
February 16, 2019 at 10:13 pm #1349896Rapid Deployment Russian.
Speed painted and dipped Soviet soldier. My first go at the Army Painter method since Warlord’s plastic EIRs back in ‘09.
Gotta say, works quite nicely. The paints are of good consistency (although Soviet Body Armour needed quite a bit of shaking..) and seem to be designed to work particularly good with quickshade. Agrax works as well, of course but quickshade provides a great protective varnish which is particularly handy when one does metal figures. The Anti Shine needs no introduction and brings it all together. I’ve brushed it on rather than using my beloved W&N professional Matt spray.
Of course you could add more highlights and details but I wanted to see what a really basic technique looks like so I only added some to the greatcoat/ bedroll and a little bit to the face. Net painting was under 30mins. Drying time about six hours. Better to let it dry over night I guess but I was just not patient enough ?.
Although my usual way of painting Bolt Action figures isn’t slow either I hate to admit this is even faster with the result not being vastly worse than what I usually produce ?
I’m definitely gonna try the other sets as well and keep my fingers crossed for some Desert War paint sets and separate paints in the future.
February 17, 2019 at 5:15 pm #1350285Finished these guys recently. Ill do a seperate thread monitoring the set.
Could anyone give me ideas or tips for basing? This is GW sand. Want to wash it with something. Possibly drybrush over that, not sure.
