They’ll include them in a one-off army box that will go for over $200 at release but will get snapped up on release day by scalpers and re-released on ebay for $1000 and up, without any releases in brick-and-mortar stores and with the stipulation that each box comes with a free Warhammer+ subscription. And then they’ll wait a year before releasing the individual models/kits with a drastically-reduced Warhammer+ subscription to try and keep the dying numbers up (if it hasn’t already croaked by then), introduce a bunch of HQ characters that will never get used, and try to reboot the range with a name like Astra Duardin or S’qwats or something else they can trademark. And while all this is going on, Russian recasters will already be producing the same models for a fraction of the cost and the same quality, including all the one-off models that wouldn’t be re-released outside of the one-off army box. Don’t forget the limited-edition hardcover codex with new artwork that fails to capture the old charm of the original squats and the $20 set of dice with indecipherable numbers.

So this is all Rumour but …. A leak of the products have been doing the rounds and so far that leak with the black templars etc has come true. So it seems they maybe a little more to this and perhaps the general chat about new products.

In terms of squats the homeworld was basically eaten and most of the squats along with it. However GW have never said squats dont exist at all across the vast range of space. Not all of them where on the planet. So the rumour suggests we are getting a squat kill team sometime after the new year. So this will not be a full army or the squats coming back but a limited number of models in a kill team box.

It is worth stressing this is a rumour so dont get you hopes up or feel disappointed if it does not come to pass but that is what we believe to be coming down the line.

Just to point out we do have squat models for forge world Necromunda so this idea they are cannon and dont exist is not the case.

Well we know that at least some Squats survived, there are one or two in Necromunda.

In W30K they were still alive though, so that’s a canon-acceptable possibility.

Personally I’d just buy Bob Olley’s Space Dwarves, but unfortunately his shop is closed, so it’s off to Ebay.

Actually you dont have to go to ebay. Macrocosm in the UK have a massive range of space DWARFS I believe a number of these are from Bob Olley but I cannot be sure. That aside they have a very large range of space dwarfs including a steel legion version, you have your standard ones the digger corps, they even have special characters like a new witch hunter and of course bikers.

If you want to start a squat army you have vast range of choice.

Why would current lore prevent anything?  Just retcon it, bish bosh, job done.  And for those of us old enough to remember, it’s not like there was ever just one Squat planet; you will probably find “eaten by Tyranids” was just a quick answer given to a question someone was sick of hearing.

But honestly, if you want Space Dwarfs, go to Mantic – Ronnie Renton loves him some Dwarf so that range really gets looked after.

There are including fleabay historical squat models still around and as @onlyonepinman says go Mantic for an easy economical option. Google away there are enough not-squat options around.

@mecha82 They already retconned squats all being er ‘squatted’ as they used tosay given they’ve turned up in Necromunda (twice for two models now)

Speaking of which it could be squats may first be released as a Necromunda gang.

    Hi Redscope,

    Thanks for the link 🙂

Btw, it says “Sculpts from INSO, Phil Hynes, Bob Olley, Alessio Cisbani.” So an excellent ranges of sculptors.

it’s not like GW hasn’t retconned stuff before, is it ?

Once they smell that sweet smell of profit they’ll resurrect any old world that was previously destroyed …  ( 😉 )

@admiralandy I’ve got a feeling that such a list would not be tournament legal.
And 40k players (as a group) appear to have very little appreciation for alternative things that aren’t sold by GW …

Not that such things matter in a local / friendly environment, but I doubt you can do what Warren did with his Nachtwulfen in Flames of War …

Besides … even if you disregard that you still would have squats that run as fast as humans. And that’s just wrong.
