Spent a chunk of time with this project today – I just had a real urge to allow myself to hyperfocus… so I did.

Moved onto painting the bases a nice rich brown (@avernos tells me the ground was pretty much frozen during the landings)

All done, and starting to look like an army!

Give a bit of Drying Time…

Then add a leather brown rim to the bases – not sure why… just felt right to me…

Then break out a flock mix and a winter tuft set or two and get to working up those bases.

Gonna leave them to dry over night now and then tidy them all up in the morning bright and early.

Was nice to zone in and push through with this a massive thanks to @recon63 again for a wonderful project!

I would have thought you’d use Werewolf Fur for you Nachtwölfe 😉

This is an interesting (Dutch) website with historic weather info :

    https://weerverleden.nl/19440917&all

    17  september 1944 :

    – minimum temperature : 6,4 °C

    – maximum temperature :  20,4 °C
That’s more like regular autumn weather, so not exactly ‘freezing’ .

These statistics are from the KNMI (Royal Netherlands Metereological Institute) . The data starts at 1-1-1910.
Location isn’t mentioned, but the standard is a place called ‘De bilt’, which is in the province of Utrecht

The best thing on miniature painting? Final steps like glueing sand onto bases.

One of the worst things? Waiting for the bloody glue to dry :S

    Morning All…

Got a chance to come in early this morning (4:30 start today, as I was excited to see how the bases would turn out lol) and glue has dried nicely, so I’m just ‘blowing my privates’ to take the excess flock and scatter off.

Next step… well rather than adding more detail at this stage I wanted to get a nice storage solution in place for them. And as they are on the OTT custom basing solution with high tech integrated magnetic 2p’s! – I was able to go down the magnetic box route.

Magnetic sheet in the box, I have a set of these nice 9 litre boxes for smaller (not tall) projects.

    20191029_050714

Trim the Magnetic sheet to length

And pop in my privates – job’s a goodun!

I use this solution with larger boxes for the fantasy armies I have been rebasing. I go for the lager boxes as I give them dragons and mammoths etc so need the extra height!

And there all protected and nice and portable too 🙂

Now… back to some real work 🙂

Nice one…. I’d always be tempted to put them upside down because the box *must* be the right way up XD
